Fabtech 6" on 3rd gen 4runner (hawaii)

I didn't read the whole thread... but, I've lived in Hawaii and I've also had a drop bracket lift on a 3rd gen. 
Most Hawaiian trucks have big lifts to fit big tires because most they do are driving through deep sand, and it just fits into the "macho" culture out there.
I ran a drop bracket lift and enjoyed it for quite a while. I went everywhere my buddies FZJ80 on 35's went.
Drop bracket lifts retain all the factory geometry of the suspension and steering. You actually are putting less strain an all those components (Weak tripod joints, tie rod ends, ball joints, etc..). Not to mention, your suspension is cycling from the point where Toyota engineers designed it, with "equal" amounts of down travel and up travel.
The obvious con's are there, like your COG being way too high. But, as I did, and the Hawaiian trucks do are getting big wide tires to increase stability. Sucks if you're wheeling through the tight narrow forests of Eastern US, but in Hawaii and SoCal, being wide isn't an issue on 99% of the trails. I personally did it because I had never seen a DB lift put on a 3rd gen, and wanted to be different, plus I've always loved big trucks! ;-)
Would I do a DB lift again? Definitely not. But, I don't think the DB lifts are as bad as people think they are.

I do the same thing. I love to play devil's advocate to start some good conversations. However I think there are good ways about it and poor ways about it. If you want a good debate, bring up opposing points of view. If you attack the other with personal remarks, you're just going to end up with an argument.
I definitely wasn't taking anything you were saying as disrespectful. I totally get your point of view too.
And I get your analogy despite it being an illegal one. I would say though that it would be hard to find a pro in that situation. I think there are plenty of people with DB lifts who know all of the cons that come with it, but the pros of how it will look outweighs it for them.

Lol, very true!
Also, with my snowboard rack on I only have like 1" of clearance in the garage... If I lift it, no more garage parking =(

I like the look! The white 4Runner looks pretty good, aside from the tires, but overall, I like the height gained with it.....
I'm not saying I'd go and do it to my truck....but it's cool to see someone do something different. :guitar2:
