Factory Alarm - possible mod ? catch a thief !

My 2005 Limited has what I believe to be the factory alarm. Locking the car enables monitoring and alarms if any door or hood opens without being unlocked on purpose (key or remote fob).

I'd like the catch the neighborhood guy who is trying the door handles of cars to find those that are unlocked at 2AM so he can rummage through the car.

Is there an easy wiring way to enable the alarm horn and lights to trigger off a door opening, even though the door is unlocked ?

Probably not, the factory alarm will not arm unless all doors and the hood are closed first. And no doubt would need a time delay after enabling this system before leaving the vehicle.

Probably need an extra alarm, wired to the dome light ?

Just get a security camera and you can catch him in the act and know who it is. Problem solved.

That's not a problem, two neighbors already have him on camera.
He's not from around here.

add some piezo sirens inside the truck, they are cheap and just need a relay hook up if doing more than 2 sires on any alarm brain.
what you are trying to do is use passive arming without locking the doors. dont know if stock keyless has this. invest in a compustar 2 way with the drone service.

Got several legal choices in TX for crime (even mischief) at night on one's property.

There's very little auto repo work done at night in TX because of this.

•unlock/disarm mine,
•then manually lock it using the door lock/unlock button it beeps three times
•then if I unlock it it beeps once I think.
•Now it's armed but unlocked. If you slam the door the alarm triggers but if you shut it gently it doesn't trigger it. But if you now open the door the alarm sounds.

Is that the solution you were looking for?

I just tried this on my 2004 and it doesn't work, the only time my factory alarm beeps is when the doors are close and locked via the remode, is your's a factory alarm or dealer option addition?

I'm thinking it must be a dealer add on but it is tied into the fob. I have shock detection as well.

looks like an aftermarket glass sensor, you can drop the panel down and trace to the brain to find the brand.
