Factory Alarm

I just bought a 01 t4r and it only came with 2 keys and No remotes :-( Im pretty sure that they all came with keyless entry remotes from factory but I want to be able to verify that before I go and buy some new remotes to program them. Anyone have experience with the factory alarm?

I guess my main questions would be...
-How to see if I do indeed have one?
-If I do have factory alarm will it automatically have the rear window control button?
-How to program it?
-Any other tips and tricks for factory alarm?

It wasn't really a Factory alarm, it was put on by gulf states toyota (the importer). Does it have the little red light on the dash that blinks after you lock it?

Why do you say it is not factory? Up through '98, they were all dealer or port installed but '99+ had factory alarm as an option. See this:

These are the same whether you have the factory alarm or just keyless entry. In 2001, the keyless was always factory, and the factory alarm package was just an add-on module to that. The remotes and programming were the same. That remote is – FCC ID: HYQ1512Y .

You may also have the RS3200 alarm added by port or dealer, which takes a different remote. I don't know enough about that to tell you if you have it or not. It takes a different remote if you do. I do have a link for the manual for the RS3200 for a 2000 4Runner", it should be the same for 2001:

All this info is '01-'02, earlier years may be were different. '98 and down definitely different.

Sorry my bad - brain misfired thinking 'factory remote Start' and went off on a tangent as mine came with the rs 3200 remote start (which was installed by gulf states vs. the japan factory). Mine, like most probably, failed a few years ago and I replaced it. :cowboy:
