Everytime while driving and pressing the brake pedal. Ill try to make a video of the noise. I was thinking of opening up and insulating the black box which I think is where the sound is coming from.

Interesting being able to retain use of the factory fob like that but I can't see being happy with the range. I can hit my vehicle easily from inside my building at work (150 yard walk most days) but I typically just start it when I'm about half way there. Anyway - even with the exchange considered (Canuck Bucks) this Viper unit was only an extra $75 installed for me.

Best feature I think is the ability to hit the remote start (while it is already running), remove the key, get out, lock the vehicle and run into a variety store or something (like on a super hot day where you might have to leave the AC running for the dog or something I dunno), I don't have a dog I have a kid but I wouldn't do that under any circumstances I'm just saying, the feature is there with this unit... the remote is small enough it doesn't add bulk to my pocket, plus it is set to double pulse so sometimes I will use that to unlock everything with one push of a button :cool:, which saves wear and tear on my thumb :twitch: same safety feature (must insert key and turn it first before touching anything or the engine dies)
 
I completely understand the range thing but one thing for me is carrying around a fob just to have a remote start. I get the more would be nice but I think I would be really bothered carrying a extra key fob around. I like the fact it just using the factory remote.
 
Maybe it is just me, but I do not want to hack up a factory wiring harness to install an aftermarket remote start/alarm. I used to install these at a brand name shop when I was in my early 20s. I like the ability of the plug and play, with the one extra wire for the factory alarm. Also, my 4Runner is a week old to me tomorrow which has some affect on my viewpoint. I still would like to hear the clicking noise people are talking about. I assume this is a relay being energized when the brake pedal is pressed. I think I heard it in the install video, but not sure. If someone wants to record it, that would be swell.

I stuffed mine up above the BCM, and the clicking sound is just the relays in the module shutting down, i never noticed it until you guys mentioned that lol, normally my radio is on so i dont hear it
 
The clicking would definitely drive me nuts, hoping I don't dwell on this now that you guys mentioned it. Thankfully I'm half deaf after 20+ years of rock concerts and my radio is usually on, so hopefully I don't notice it
 
Installed mine today. I dont have any clicking. The taps are a huge PITA. Take a few minutes and pull some of the factory tape back for the blue one. I also had to trim some of the ribs on the back of the steering wheel shroud.
 
Hopefully they have something soon. This winter thing happening right now is not cool. I hesitated last time due to the complaint about relay clicking with every brake press.
