Factory Heated Leather Seat Swap (Question Thread)

Over the weekend I picked up a set of factory heated leather seats.

Looks like the heated seats are 5 pin, and my factory power seats are 3 pin.

Has anyone done this swap before? I have the pigtails for everything. I want to use factory switches.

I have only seen one 3rd gen with factory heated seats in my area.

Does the factory heated seats have both the bottom and back heated?

I know the one I saw had the seat controls in the center console.

Being that they are so rare around my area. I was just going to put A/M seat heaters in and build my own circuit for them. I even though of putting heaters in my rear seats as well.

Heat seaters don't show up in Electrical Wiring Diagrams [EWD] until 2001

Being they dont show up until 2001 in EWD its possible no wiring exists for them and you have to wire it up yourself. Here is the EWD for the Seat heater

I believe factory heated seats were only available in '01-02 Limited models, with the switches being located on the left side of the dash cluster. Canada models may have had them in other years/models.

Maybe the one I saw had them moved or added them in but they were in the console by the e brake on that rig.

I too thought I had seen one with the switches on the console...that's where I would want them if I was gonna retrofit

Below is the OEM switch installation. Anything in the console is a mod, which actually is better placement because it puts the switches where both the driver and passenger can reach them, plus it's closer to the seat heaters themselves.

That makes since the OEM location is on the Dash. Just makes more sense to be in the center console. That way the passenger can control their own seat.

If and when I put heat seaters in. I put my switches in the center console.

I would even put heaters in the rear seats as well. I dont believe any 3rd gens by factory had heated rear seats.

That's one of the few options I'm going to miss from my LX570, oh and the heated steering wheel too!
