Factory NAV Anomoly - "System loading..Don't turn off the power"

For those Limited owners with the NAV, I have now seen this screen twice. The first time, I didn't pay it much attention but this time, I caught a pic of it.

When I turned my truck on today to go home:

1. Instead of the usual "Toyota Logo" I saw this screen "System loading..don't turn off the power"

2. Once it was done, I saw the Toyota logo and the system booted as normal.

3. I noted that my line colors for the NAV, default screen view, compass, and minor other settings had seemed to reset to 'default'

4. I did not loose any phone data, phone books, speed dials, voice tags, etc.

I did a google search which suggests this is the result of a firmware load. However, I did not do anything, this just happened all on its own. I'm wondering if Toyota is sending some update down? I wouldn't think so, but you never know.


Anyone else seen this?

I have a 2010 Limited, and the same thing happened to me yesterday. It took approximately 45 seconds to complete, and then it went back to normal operation.

mine did something like that about a month or so ago. except it only said "loading map data. please wait." when it finished, all my Nav settings were erased and reset to defaults. such a pain in the a$$ when i couldn't figure out why it kept trying to get me off the Maine turnpike (toll road) when i punched in a destination a few weeks later!

I have a 2010 Limited, and the same thing happened to me yesterday. It took approximately 45 seconds to complete, and then it went back to normal operation.

Wow, interesting timing. I wonder how many other people had this happen?

That's interesting man.. I've also had mine just "delete" my speed dials (for no apparent reason). The phone book remains untouched. It's kinda wierd.

I'm thinking about using this thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/67451-oem-nav-service-screens.html to go back in there and see if anything looks different. At the very least, I'm gonna take pics of the current information and when this happens again I'll compare. Just a thought.

Mine has not done this recently, but it's done it 2x since I purchased my T4R. No idea why.

This makes twice for me as well. I'm going to ask dealer next time Im there.

It seems that all those who have chimed in so far have 2010 vehicles....not sure if that's strictly a coincidence or not. I have an '11 and have never noticed this screen.

I was noticing that as well, but I'm hoping a few more owners chime in so we can narrow it down.

I have a 2010 with almost 30k on it. I have never experienced this.

My 2010 did this at least 2 times each month. It was a pain because it would reset the NAV orientation. If I remember correctly, there's a screen or message before that "loading" menu, referring to something about not being able to read the DVD. I think that is the real issue.

Hmm, interesting. I don't recall mine saying anything, but now that you mention it, I did see something flash up right before that loading screen. Maybe it did say something about the map dvd. I'll check with my Toyota dealer, maybe I can get another dvd. (hopefully they won't have the old one and will have to give me a new one. lol)
