Factory Nav in Non-Nav 4Runner?

I know some of the guys here have done this on the 4Th gen, installing a Factory Nav unit into a non-Nav 4Runner (no JBL for me). Was wondering if this listing I found is reasonable, and what other specific materials/harnesses/hardware do I need to install it in my 4Runner?

I don't recall the E700x numbers on which is what.

If your 4Runner doesn't have the JBL system, you need the "Camry" nav HU, which has an analog output to the JBL amp.

If your 4Runner has the JBL system, you need the "Solora" nav HU, which has a digital output to the JBL amp.

The 2006 has the E7008.

doesn't sound like you have the JBL amp. For the E7005 (Toyota 4Runner NAVI) to work, you are going to have to purchase it and install it. These NAVIs are starting to age, so "upgrading" your nonJBL truck is going to be expensive. If you get an E7019 NAVI, you should be able to plug and play.

The Camry nav has an analog output. For a non-JBL 4Runner, you will need a "Camry nav" and it'll be plug and play with your 4Runner. You do not need a JBL of any sort.

I would go with CookieRoe's suggestion, I believe the E7019 is from the current Corolla and some 4th gen owners have gotten that to work in their 4R's.

I haven't kept up with what OEM navs work as I was doing research 5-6 years ago when I was debating on what my options were if I got my 4Runner without nav from the factory.

Yea it seems costly just to have a factory look. I was just wondering what my options were but my question is this... Camry NAV, wouldn't that look different? Are we talking about the MY 07-current Camrys? Because don't those have the silver trim around and (which I read from your thread Cookie) the buttons light up green though :hiding:

The only physical difference between all of them is that some of the buttons MAY vary a little (SAT button for example) and the color of the backlighted buttons. Mine light up green even though the rest of the interior is orange. Doesn't bother me. I'd love for them to be orange, but that mod is risky (for me, its not worth it).

EDIT: the current Camry Nav won't work in our 4Runners. They are totally different. We were talking about the 2001-2006 Camry.

Camry Nav install into a 4Runner

I bought a camry nav to install in my 4runner, but I have a Limited with the JBL STereo, so the Camry Nav will not work, it's for sale in the classified's on this site for $325.00, Just trying to get my money back so I can pruchase the nav from a solara, wich will work with the JBL..

I've decided to not go the expensive route and stick with a Pioneer AVH-P3200BT headunit at the moment. This unit came off of my old CR-V that I sold a few months back and it's just been sitting in my closet when I spent $500 for that thing and only used it for 3 months in my CR-V. I basically am needing just the bluetooth aspect of the HU. Navi is optional, since I usually drive the Beamer when I go out of town (and I am paying premium features on my cellphone with GPS so that's always up to date)

Re-reading this thread again, is it still possible to buy a brand new Camry (01-06) Nav unit? If so, will it be ridiculously expensive? And with the Camry HU, it will be PLUG N PLAY correct? Where would the Bluetooth mic go though?

E7006 – Tundra/Sequoia Navigation: Buttons light Green.
E7007 – Sienna: (2006), Digital Amp w/MP3, 4 Disc, Bluetooth, Need JBL Amp, Buttons light Green.
E7008 - 4Runner Navigation: (2006), Digital Amp w/MP3, 4 Disc, Bluetooth, Need JBL Amp, Buttons light Orange.
E7009 – Camry Navigation (2007) Digital Amp, w/MP3, 4 Disc, Bluetooth, Need JBL Amp, Buttons light Green.
E7019 – Corolla/RAV4 Navigation: Single disc, Plug n Play (non-JBL), Buttons light Orange.

The E7003 or the E7019 are the ones you want. Those do not need the JBL to work. If you want the other models (like the one that is currently for sale on that link), then you need the JBL. installing one isn't the easiest thing to do or the most cheap either.

As far as the bluetooth, well, you can always "take a shortcut" and get a Mediabridge 1500 (google it) and you will have have BT & iPod/iPhone connectivity for your music. :thumb3:

OK so just to make sure I understand, I need to buy an E7019 which is really for a Corolla and Rav4? My truck does not have JBL (unfortunately) but I dont like aftermarket looks. I like it to be neat and well put together and think I'll accomplish this best with a factory unit...

Yes. The E7019 is non-jbl (from what I understand) and does not have an external amp like the rest do. It should be plug and play for you. Good Luck!

Unfortunately not equipped with JBL? Hahha, some of us would rather NOT have it.

03 4Runner with non- nav radio with JBL

So if I wanted to install a OE Nav radio am I not missing a lot of wiring. I see from some pics there are a number of plugs needed that are not in my dash. I have a total of 3. BTW I have JBL.
