Factory Spoiler?

So my SR5 didn't come with the factory spoiler but I really like how they look and was thinking about calling the local Toyota dealership and seeing if they had one or knew of another dealership that had one. But regardless of where I get one, has anyone installed the factory spoiler on their runner? How did you go about it and was it difficult? Maybe the stealership could do it for me, even though I'd have to pay out the ass for it?

So does anyone have any experience with installing a factory spoiler on a 4Runner that didn't come with the spoiler?

i'm in the same boat as you, mine didn't have one either and i also think they look cool. last i heard toyota dosen't sell them anymore and if you got it you had to install yourself which meant drilling holes in the gate.

I think the factory spoilers go along with the same idea as factory roof racks... If your vehicle doesnt come with them from the factory, then it requires drilling and rough install to put em in.. Which sucks.

I actually like the look of mine better without the spoiler. But yeah, mounting one without the stock threaded holes wouldn't be worth the expense, I'd think.

I did this -well Irbis drilled my holes

Irbis Off Road has a good supply of the spoilers and the stanchions to mount them.

I have a copy of the template on where to mount it to the hatch.
Even then Irbis used a nearby Runner to double check the hole locations.

I could not bring myself to drill holes in the wrong place. I let Irbis do it for me, and they put it right where it belongs.

There is more than one spoiler type-some are plastic and some are metal.

I custom painted mine to match my body color while at it.

Mine was easy. I bought one from a wrecked limited and just placed it, drilled, and screwed it in...

How did you figure out how to do the install, like where to drill and what bits to use etc.? Did you use those install instructions someone posted earlier? Can you shed some light on the install for me? I really want to get a factory spoiler on my runner.

eww....you WANT one of those 1983 spoilers on your truck?

I am soooo glad mine didnt come with it, leave a nice space for my new Jaos Euro Spoiler =)

Oh man...to each his own. I think those jaos spoilers are an eye sore. I did want to take my stock one off but didn't want to deal with the holes in the tailgate.

david...I get to return the favor for setting me up with the roof rack part numbers you sent me:

I'll try to get up the illustration of the install in the next few days. These are oem instructions I posted btw. Just pm me if I forget.

Ahh perfect, thank you! Yeah I'm just trying to decide if I'll be able to do the install myself or if I'll want to take it to a shop to ensure it gets done right.
