Factory Sub Out?

I was wondering if an 08 factory stereo had some sort of sub out or a way to connect a sub without replacing the whole HU. I have an amp (JL 500.1) and a sub just sitting there and want to hook them up.

Also, does the firewall need to be drilled in order to run the wiring or is there a hole?

Yes this can be done, you need a speaker to line level converter or JL themselves sell a system to accomplish this.

Depending on sub you could possibly modify the stock enclosure to fit it. (This is very dependent on the sub type & size & your skill level).

I have a sub in an enclosure, the only thing I'm worried about is the RCA connection to the AMP and the power connection. I don't feel like spending any money on a HU right now, even though I know that would be the correct way to go about it.

EDIT: I thought you had a JBL system, you don't. You will have to find a speaker wire aka the closest door you will have the amp mounted close to, to make this work.

To answer your last question, the 4th gens have some great firewall pass-through grommets. Shouldn't be any need to drill.

On the passenger side, it's easiest to remove the glove box, side kick panel trim, and possibly the storage box in the glovebox (not absolutely necessary).

If you don't have fish tape, you can always use a metal coat hanger straightened out. Stick one end through the grommet, then attach the wire to it with some tape (and make sure it's smooth and as small as possible), then pull it through. It also makes it easier to pull through if you lube it up with some rubbing alcohol (or you can buy wire lube for this purpose at Lowes, etc).
