Factory switches

What is available for factory switches and what insignia is on them.

I want to relocate my DAC switch to the front left, but also want a light switch for off road lights and for the DSL on off light switch. It would be nice to have the insignia and a lighted switch and keep it stock looking.

Yes I know , but not what I was asking , what insignias are available ? Like with a picture of a light on it , or some other type of logo that illuminates at night with the rest of the lights.

Can you like hook up a set of aftermarket lights (piaa or Hella ) to it ?

The ones that go on the left side of the dash, you can get a foglight one and another that says "RR Diff Lock". Those two I'm sure of, as I have them on my '05 Tacoma. There might be others from the Tacoma as well.

You have an 05 Tacoma too ? What set up do you have on that. I've looked at some of them , mainly the TRD ,DC short box 4x4 and I love the way they look.

Thanks for the switch info

Toyota did a marvelous job on the current Tacoma design. Fell in love with it right away. The '05+ Tacomas are great trucks compared to the previous gen. The biggest improvement was the rear seat in the DoubleCab.

I have a '05 DoubleCab PreRunner (2WD with the 4x4 look) with the TRD Off-Road package. DoubleCab's only come in PreRunner or 4x4 form and only with the 4.0 V6, no 4cyl available (5sp auto or 6sp manual transmission). Personally, I hate how the lower 2WD Tacomas look like (the body is too big to be sitting low w/ 14" wheels) with the exception of the X-Runner. The TRD Off-Road package is only available on the short bed DC model; TRD Sport can be had on the longbed. The loss of a foot in the bed (5') doesn't bother me and I haven't had to haul anything that wouldn't fit. The long bed DC is too long and parking would be real tough to find since I live in the city. There are many spots that the Taco won't fit and the 4R will do just fine.

There are two TRD packages, Sport and Off-Road. The biggest difference between the two packages is the Sport comes with a LSD and the Off-Road has a locker. The regular SR5 with the correct package (options group) can also have the LSD as an option. The rest are just cosmetic differences between the two, both have same interior and sport seats.

I'd love to have one .....I dont mind the short box and I think they look better personally. I would just use the box for odds and ends crap to haul around. I have a 6 x 10 , 1ton alum. trailer with sides and a ramp that does my hauling. I've seen a silver one at toyota nation with a nice lift and tires , tinted windows , its awesome looking.

Mine is all stock with a shell on it. Pb over at TN has a black DC Sport short bed with some really tastefully done mods. The V6 is rated for towing 6500lbs--more than a V6 4R can do. I agree the long bed DC looks too long, especially with a shell (then the bed looks even longer). But the lines from the fender along the doors to the bed meet up and flows better on the long bed than the short bed. Can't go wrong with a Tacoma either way though.

I used the 05 Taco switch for my Hellas...

That looks great!!! Where did you buy it, the dealer?? If so do you have the part number and how much was it?

yea, dealer parts

84160-04010-switch ($40)
90980-11090-is the harness that clips to the switch that will hold the wire plugs ($5)
82998-12340-wire plugs ($4.95 each)

not cheap to do, but gets the best results IMO

you can get more info here

its a long read, but it will make sense

you can also check here for more info

Thanks. Your install looks great in that thread. I'm assuming those are Hella 500 FOGS and not driving lights. Im fixing to get that exact setup you have (bar/lights).

Can you use them without getting flashed by on coming drivers? How well do they light up the road ahead?

sure, I use em all the time...aiming is key...just be sure they are not aimed higher than the factory beam...they light up the road very nicely.
