Falken AT4W’s coming. AT3W’s being discontinued.

I think they actually changed the spec sheets to now match so its decieving. The at3w also was not exactly 33", but the spec sheet on that page is now showing that. the at4w was said to be exactly 33".

The at3w specs previously listed the 285/70r17 E load as 59 lbs.

Wanted to wait for the BF Goodrich KO3’s (standard size), but since they don’t come out until late 2024, I went ahead with the Falken AT4W SL rated set. I had KO2s on my last 4Runner, but didn’t like in the rain.

Although I didn’t purchase the AT4Ws for snow performance (have dedicated winters), I should have a good test this week with a large storm coming through Denver.

Can anyone confirm if they are actually discontinuing the AT3s? Hearing mixed feedback about this. If so, I guess I better buy a fifth tire and hope my other ones hold up. Does a manufacturer usually keep some dead stock for warranty issues?

Separately, noticed some of the sizing has changed a lot.

• LT 275/70/17s load C AT4s are smaller than the outgoing AT3s in that size (I ride these)
• LT 285s load C got larger and are a true 33" diameter now in the AT4s

I really like my AT3W’s in the SL rating except for the wear. Coming up on 24k with only 5/32 left. Aligned, balanced and rotated as required. Less than 1k miles of off road use. Smooth, fairly quiet ride, really good out 4wheeling and in water. However, off road performance started to decline slightly after 15k. I hope the new AT4W C load is ~55 pounds.

Yeah I had cupping with mine. Never buying Falkens again. Coopers have been performing much much better in that regard.

Just got this email from Falken technical support. Yup, the AT3s are being discontinued.

We appreciate your contact and support in Falken Tires.

The AT3W is being discontinued and replaced with the AT4W.

Since this recently happened there should be product available in the market for a bit before it’s completely gone.

Claims would still be processed under our normal warranty guidelines but if a replacement tire is not available the AT4 would be the replacement option we recommend.

Yeah, I wonder about this. Last year I bought 5 AT3W's for my 4Runner. I suppose if one pops, I'll run the remaining four and get a non-matching spare. If I pop a second... guess I'll just buy a full set of new tires. The AT4's do look pretty nice.

I ended up purchasing a new set of MT Baja Boss AT’s in 285/70-17 SL range, 48 lbs, triple peak, 16/32 depth, 50k warranty, very good reviews, aggressive looking tire with very little noise. Made in the U.S. by Goodyear in Akron, Ohio. My Falken SL’s were made in China and had 13/32 factory tread depth. Only got 25k out of them. Fortunately, American Tire Depot gave me a $355 credit towards the Baja Boss’s and priced them at $276/tire.
