Fan mount stud came out

Hi

I'm midway through a timing belt change and when I removed the fan mount thing that is held on with 3 studs, one of the studs came out completely instead of the nut.

How do I get the stud back in and tightened down? Or does the nut hold it in place?

Hopefully someone knows what I am talking about

It's the 5vz engine

Save the stud, if you have a bench vise try and get the nut off the stud. There is a trick you can do with two nuts on the stud so you can use a wrench to get the stud back in tightly. I put a little red loctite on the threads on mine before I did this. You can find videos of the two nut trick on studs on youtube.

The stud is fine, the nut came off easily. Do the studs really have to be put in tight with red Loctite or will the torque of the nut stretch the stud and keep it in place?

The reason I ask is because I put it all back together thinking a hand tight stud will be fine if the nut is on tight. Should I take all the belts off and redo the stud or will it hold as is?

I think it will probably be fine. If it comes out again next timing belt change maybe try the loctite.
