So basically.. long story short, I dukes of hazard the truck. I went just a wheels width off the side of this road and lost traction, started sliding sideways and caught a tree, rolled 3 or 4 times (you lose count when its happening), rolled up a slope, flew and nailed a tree 15 feet in the air, finally crashing down. I was pinned in my seat and the door wouldn’t open so I wedged myself out after 10 minutes of struggling and crawled to the passenger side and kicked it open just enough to slide out (I maybe got 10 inches of wiggle room). Skull exposed so I received 2 layers of stitches. No concussion though! Performed cat scan, no brain found.

Bottom line is this truck saved my life and you should all feel safe in them. I'm convinced if I was in my previous 3rd Gen I'd still be in the hospital. It took me 2 months to find this truck because of my criteria and I loved her dearly. I'll probably buy a junker with the insurance money until I find the next 4th gen that makes me as happy as Amber did. I refuse to settle for a local 4runner I'm not completely satisfied with. This just happened as of 12:15am this morning so please do not ask about parting out anything, I am in the dark as to what will happen next with the insurance company.

Drive safe and love these runners, don't take them for granite (as cheesy as that sounds). I walked away with 25 stitches when I shouldn't have walked away, period. I don't even have as much as a single bruise.

Holy shit dude, I am glad you are ok and a car is just pieces of metal put together ( in this case very well put together).

When it comes down to it, you're right. It is just metal put together. But every time I got into that truck I thoroughly loved driving it. It's a weird connection to something inanimate that I've never experienced until I got it and I'm sure a lot of members here can relate to it. As bad as it sounds, I'm more upset about the lose of my truck then anything else. Screw the stitches, I'd trade broken bones to have it back with me.

I can understand, but keep in mind car is replaceable life's are not. You are alive right now and that's all that matters. You will replace that vehicle with like or better vehicle that will bring ton of happiness down the line.

Btw about two years ago another guy who also had an avatar of Jack from The Shining completely totaled beyond all hell his Black 4Runner in a solo bad accident.

Perhaps having Jack as your picture is just bad spiritual luck.

haha! As unlucky as I feel, I don't blame Mr. Torrence.
 
Sammy, glad you made it out of that crash with only minor injuries! Those crash photos are SCARY! Best of luck in recovery and finding Amber 2.0.

When you have the time, I would be very interested to read more details about how control was lost, such as your approximate speed, the type of surface on the side of the road and anything that might have caused you to move off the road initially. These kind of stories can be good learning events for others.
Sorry about your ride and your injuries, that's going to be a cool scar. :)
 
For having been rolled several times, I'm amazed at how intact the roof is. Granted, you only had a few inches of wiggle room to get out, but that's pretty impressive given the scenario. Glad you walked away from it.

Wow! Glad you're ok. It looks like it was a very rough accident. May I suggest you ease up on the dukes of hazard driving though.

Also, by the way the paint is chipping off on the rear panel, you probably weren't the first to wreck this 4runner.

No, the paint on her was fantastic. I see what you might be looking at though, that paint chipping away was from the body crunching and folding in on itself, the paint didn't want to do the same, so it flaked off (I'm assuming).

I'll add a little write up to this post probably by tomorrow. Got a lot going on today and tomorrow but will do my best.
