More adventures... 4/6 & 7

Had a Wilderness First Aid class at the college field station in a National Forest... Got to spend two evenings exploring the area... Here are the pictures, with the 4Runner, of course!

First part was exploring little side roads off the main highway in this mountain range. Problem was, it was cloudy and snow flurries most of both days. Hence, many of the pictures aren't that great.

Some of you may know of the Morrison Trail in Northwestern Wyoming/Southern Montana. It has been called one of the top 10 overland routes in the world. Quite famous... I did a scouting mission to the bottom of the infamous switchbacks... The 4Runner did AWESOME on the very rough road, I kept waiting to hear the sound of my 4Runner scraping a rock, but either I picked good lines or the 4Runner has some serious clearance... Either way, it was fun!

Keep in mind that a fresh snow storm is supposedly rolling in all over the state right now. But yeah, I was surprised at the lack of snow...

I saw that, over on TW, Glacier, right? That's pretty awesome, I'm hoping to hit up Glacier sometime this year as well!

Let me know if you need directions into the Morrison as well, it's easy once you hit Clark.

awesome! i am planning a road trip this summer, just no destination set in stone. In one year i am going to do a big expedition to Alaska. I am in Vancouver BC, i actually recently drove back from nova scotia and went through all the northern states, had a blast.

That's pretty awesome! So you swung through some of the United States, you said? Like North Dakota and Montana? Have you been to Glacier National Park? You should visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks this summer! Any advice for WY and MT, just let me know!

I'd love to visit much of Canada, been wanting to take a road trip up there forever...

It's being organized by a guy I know near me, and I'm planning to do Leg 1 (the exact trail that I explored - but am not doing the switchbacks, but am doing the other end of it - the last half of Morrison and Goose Lake) of the trip. Seeing as you're from Colorado, you could probably do all three legs, working your way back home... Check it out, would be awesome if you could at least make Leg 1!

That whole thing looks pretty dang fun haha. Why wont you be doing leg 2? Seems like you've got the experience driving up there already. If you could pick up some sliders you would probably be set. Might drag your hitch but thats ok :loco:

I plan on hopefully getting some sliders this summer, but am not entirely sure yet. I'm thinking either 4xinnovations or ODL.

Eh, Lander is too far and I don't have all the time this summer. Plus, Lander seems too rough for me to take my DD on right now.

The lander trails look pretty dang fun but as you said they are gnarly. Its on the way back for me so I might just do it anyways :shrug:. I don't really mind blowing some CVs as I'm planning on picking up some spares at a salvage yard near me (hopefully with some Aisin manual hubs too).

Thanks Addison! I am happy that some shots turned out well, despite the cloudy weather! I am honored that you would consider me an inspiration, I would hardly think so! Have you gotten out lately?

Its a ways off obviously but I'm going to think about it. Alot depends on when I can move back up here. I'm heading back to Oklahoma for the summer but school starts back up here August 26th. So if they choose the later date (12th I think it was?) I might be able to swing it and come up early.

They ended up choosing the earlier date of the 5th, since the main organizer has school starting early. But still, keep it in mind, would be awesome if you could make it! And I need to get my CVs rebooted, I'd like to pickup a spare OEM one from the place in Denver, but don't have the funds right now and I'm worried how much shipping will cost lol. Asin manual hubs would be awesome, how would that work?
