The 4R hasn't seen home for a while, not since last summer. Still, I drive it from time to time, and we have fun. Mostly on pavement. Some shots, mostly at college! This snow is fun...

The long road home...

After 9+ months away from home, the 4Runner finally got to return to big, wonderful Wyoming with me - driving over 1500 miles in less than two days - from Indiana to Wyoming, mostly by way of I-90 through South Dakota...

Finally my license plate matches the state I'm in... I pulled off the interstate right there, to take a picture, even though I'm from there...

The only mountain range I had to cross, was one in Wyoming, a little ways before my house, the road reaches over 9,500 feet above sea level. Most of these pictures were taken in my ecstatic bliss (yes, I'll admit it) of being back in my home range...

And that's pretty much it... almost burned out my brakes on the steep side towards home, but that is to be expected with a 10%+ grade... So very glad to be back home for a short spell!

The Bighorns are extremely green this year, with some snow - I'm already planning to head back up in two weeks, hopefully!

SOLO trip - Intro and Night 1

A week or so back, I finally took it upon myself to retreat into the mountains with just me, myself, and I, and, of course, the 4Runner. So the four of us headed out late one evening, and we spent about two nights and two-point-five days up on the mountain, in a national forest...

National Forests, for those of you who don't know, are a wheeler's dream - there's lots of trails to be explored, but if you don't want to stretch your rig too much, there is plenty of stuff to drive, that passenger cars can't but that a stock 4Runner can do... Needless to say, this is perfect for me at this point - operating on a non-existent budget while in school...

Anyway... The evening I headed up... Enjoy the captions!

A few hours passed, got on a different FS road... came to a creek crossing that I had heard about as 2-3 feet deep. Was only about 2 feet, or a bit less, probably more like 1.5 feet. Not bad, but that hill was steep going up!

SOLO trip - Day 2

So second night, I camped in the same spot, as there were no bugs (rare) and I liked the spot, it worked out to make a big loop and camp there again. No human visitors either...except road traffic occasionally. Quite nice!

Went home that night - did around 150'ish miles off road in two days. Was a lot of fun!

Thanks guys for looking, I always enjoy sharing the views I get to look at and showcase the stuff that God has made! I literally just point and click - no aftereffects (very rare) or such - I don't get much credit!

Oh, the rig is 3-4 miles short of crossing 120,000 miles! Officially over 22,000 miles driven on and off road in two years!

Beartooth Highway - Part 1

Home for break - never got around to posting pics of my last summer adventure in the 4Runner - driving the world famous Beartooth Highway - which is one of the top 15 drives in the world... Runs between the northern end of Yellowstone National Park and snakes up into southern Montana...First time driving it myself as well as in the 4Runner. This was in early August.
