Fault Codes for 4Runner 2007

Hi,

I have a toyota 4Runner manufactured on 11/2007. I am not sure if this falls into 4th gen 4runners or not?

Since i have just bought it (second hand), i got the following two fault codes the after driving it for about 20 miles.

1. C1201 A. Engine COntrol System Malfunction (ABS System) and B. Brake Boost Sensor Malfunction (Engine System)
2. P2197 Oxygen AF Sensor Signal Stuck Lean (Bank 2, Sensor 1)

Anyway idea what is damaged and what to do to fix this?

Yes, 2007 falls into the 4th generation (model years 2003-2009).

According to the service manual, C1201 means that the engine control computer detected some sort of general problem and told the VSC and TRAC systems to shut off.

The description for P2197 is correct - the voltage output from the oxygen sensor (or air/fuel ratio sensor for California emission) is not changing as expected. It's probably the sensor, but it could also be a wiring issue running to the sensor.

Are there any modificaitons on the truck that might involve wiring, especially under the hood? Since both of those problems could be electrical, I'd check there first. That C1201 sounds like a really strange problem, and I'd be inclined to let a dealer look at it. If you're into DIY car repairs, it's certainly possible to check that O2-A/F sensor problem yourself by checking the output voltage from the sensor. Otherwise, the dealer can certainly check that too.

How does it drive? Do you notice anything wrong? Check the brake fluid level and condition. Make sure the gas cap is tightened three clicks, and check the air filter element for dirt. They are snow white when new. I have seen ABS codes register just from heavy fog at the beach. Probably wet sensors. To erase the codes remove the positive battery terminal for 10 minutes. This car is too new to have much wrong with it.

the car is new. It has only 9000+ mileage.

The previous owner told me that the hood was changed. It used to have normal hood but replaced with an intercooler hood.

I see some other functions related to electricity not working. its pretty heavy snow and the car engine has been washed as well (dont know why).

I dont think i can fix it myself as i have never done anything myself. I will have a mechanic check it tomorrow and put updates here.

by the way, the drive is fine.. the fuel consumption is 10.9 MPG?

try resetting the ecu first ,make sure everythings plugged in, then (remove - battery term. for 15 min. then reconnect) the wash might of just wet soaked something.

If you bought it from a dealer, def take it back to them. But I don't think you did, since you mention "Previous Owner". Electrical issues are not too common on our cars, what else electrical have you noticed not working on the car?

Did you check out the car history when you bought (for accidents, Insurance claims, lemon check)? An 07 4Runner with only 9k miles (to me) shouldn't throw fault codes. A hood usually costs about $1k to change. He just loves the sporty look or did he change the hood while changing other parts?

If he just did mods, ask him to break down teh mods so you can check the appropriate wiring and such. GL...

Was this a flooded vehicle? 10.9, is that real mpg or read off of the display over some short window of time?

My '07 has just under 10,000 miles. Average about 17 MPG around city. V6

Mfd 11 2007 with 9K miles your vehicle is still under warranty.

May be nullified because of the mods though? It might be worth it to check at a dealership. They should be able to pull up any previous dealer service and also let you know about your warranty.
