Just curious what features other owners long for. Here are my wishes:

- Ability to turn off all interior lights from the tailgate. (my Jeep had this)

- Information display stereo (my Jeep scrolled the song and title for stations that transmitted this info)

- Ability to choose dash light color. (I think VW's offer this. I hate the amber)

- Black carpeting. The light gray is nearly trashed after 7 months.

- Standard side airbags.

Just a some little things for me:

- Auto tilt-down on the outside mirrors when you put it in reverse. (Makes it easier to see the curb when parking.) The GX will do this - the 4Runner should!!
- When I used to have a long commute, headlight washers were a must in the winter. (They're not perfect, but they wash off the bulk of the road salt.)
- Display of the tire pressure on the dash. The ECU always knows the actual pressure in each tire, and you can get it from the OBD II port with Toyota's scan tool. They should display it somewhere.
- An access panel in the skid plate for the V8 oil filter. I've seen the awesome mod posted here; something like that should be factory.
- When you have the double-decker cargo option, you lose the hooks for plastic grocery bags. I'd like some hooks!
- Fix the trip computer! The ECU knows how much fuel is really being consumed by the fuel injectors, so make the MPG correct.

I got my biggest wish on the '06 - MP3 playback capability on the CD changer and an 1/8" aux input jack.

The nav has a information display stereo.

With light colored interiors (tan & light gray) it's understood you need all-weather mats.

I think side air bags are standard, side curtains are optional.

There are always options that some people (including myself) would like to see on any vehicle, the problem is they cost extra money and the line has to be drawn.

Just to clarify... my post was not meant as a complaint. I'm very happy with the truck. I just get frustrated sometimes when I see cool things that are standard in smaller, cheaper cars that are not standard or even available for other more expensive cars.

- Real time MPG display (instead of just average)

- Different dash light color

- Auto up/down on all windows

- Auto program on the radio (scans the entire FM and AM frequency and automatically programs the 12 strongest FM and 6 strongest AM stations. Great for travel.)

- Alarm system should be standard on all models.

- Xenon headlights

- 3" higher. At least for 4x4 ver. (similar Prerunner version of Tacoma)

You are a very smart guy/gal. You chose the same exact 4runner that I have. According to my 5yrs old son, I am a very smartest person he ever known

Oh, the 03-05 JBL units has the RDS display. It was removed from the 06 for some reason, but 06 also got MP3 and Sat.

28MPG?! I've never come close to that.

Also, aren't you able to reset that somehow?

yikes my bad 28mph for the speed. not the MPG.

Ya you can reset it, but you shouldn't have too. I just took a trip down to portland, and it was about 75 mph all the way down, and back. And that darn thing didn't move at all. Still says 28.

careful what you wish for , it will even turn more into a low riding soccer mom , kid hauler than it already is. WE DON'T WANT THAT !!! There are plenty of those type of SUV's to pick from.

Open and close your own tailgate,its not that difficult.

My wish is simply the door lock and window switches be lighted , slightly higher and slightly wider stance like the Tacoma TRD 4x4.

I have a few, some are mentioned already.

-Auto up/down on all windows, lit switches all around too.
-HIDs
-Tilt down mirrors in reverse.
-Turn signals on the mirror housing.
-Power folding/retracting mirrors, like the Sequoia and Land Cruiser.
-Reclining rear seats.
-Fold flat front passenger seat.
-Memory driver seat should include mirror settings.
-Day and night settings for instrumention cluster seperate. (Currently, if you dim it too low during the day, it gets low at night and vice versa.)

The average 28 MPH on your vehicle is the average MPH probably from new if you never reset it (estimating 35K miles). Of course it will not change with just one tank (approx 300 miles). If you never reset the MPG you will have the MPG for an average of 28 MPH over 35K miles. If you reset the MPG then you need to reset the MPH other wise you can't correlate the two. I reset both every fill up and that gives me the MPG at that average speed for that particular tank of gas. If you wanted to see how you did on a long trip should reset both while filling up at the beginning and then leave it till you return home. If wanted to see how you do on the highway you would reset both when filling up before you get on the highway and take a reading when you get off. Of course you would also need to manually estimate the MPG by dividing the gallons used into the mileage to give you the error factor so you would know the MPG on the vehicle's computer.

I wouldn't mind if the Canadian 4Runners would let you individualize the options as I gather that US 4Runners can be somewhat customized.

We are stuck with 3 models being "Base, Sport and Limited". Another item is making navigation an option as well.

Ya I'm a little confused on this too. So the MPH is average from the last reset, it never has a cutoff point? Even if this is right, you would think the avg. MPH would move somewhat.

I've reset it before, when a few times back when I first bought it, but it always ends up at 28. So I just got tired of resetting it all the time.

I would also like to see it be more real time, it would be more useful that way.

I haven't reset my MPG one in awhile, and it will move around a little. In the winter it had dropped down to 19.6 now it's up to 19.9.

But the MPH one never ever moves.

You guy better hope Toyota does'nt take all of these into consideration.......damn would this be a wuss mobile even a soccer mom would love drive.

Damn , go buy a Lexus or Infinity , no offense to any of you but this would drive the price up to Lexus #'s and really . Auto tailgate up and down.....lol......unreal !!! maybe a mini van would suit you better.
