FedEx is a joke

I have had many packages left at my door before. Every time I think, wow, someone could just steal this and that would suck. Well, apparently that has finally happened.

Well, at least FedEx may think so. Either that or they didn't know how to find my door, and left it on some random door.

Now I get to wait 10 days for the driver to see if he can find my place, and see if he says that is where he left it.

One thing I don't get is that the package was insured. Wouldn't you think they would want to cover their @ss and get a signature??

Man...that sucks. I usually have my packages go to my work for this reason. You just need to add your work address as a secondary with your bank for online ordering.

I think if you set up a fedex account, you may be able to require signatures for all packages, but I'm not sure.

I work swings, so packages come when I am home. I was at home at the time they said the package was delivered. I just didn't know they delivered it till the next day since they didn't update the site until after I went to work.

There are several divisions of FedEx - Express, Ground, Freight, Custom Critical and Home Delivery; with each one having a purple Fed and a differently-colored Ex to identify it.

FedEx, much the same as other companies, is trying to cut corners anywhere they can and are now offering a 'signature service' at extra cost (to the shipper). Upper mgmt must think it is more efficient to have drivers leave the packages the first time - where feasible - instead of having to go back two or three times to the same address.

I used to work for FedEx and I can tell you that they often change or update policies in their own interest - not necessarily that of their customers or employees.

well, when you getting a package, you should receive a confirmation/shipping details. meaning tracking that item where it's located. there's an option where you can tell them that a person HAVE to sign it. usually the seller could set that option before you want it to. but FedEx did messed up my package before. it said it was delivered on time. but when i checked, nothing was there. until few minutes later, my neighbor brought it over. -_-

It seems that it just depends on the driver. I'm usually not home during the day and I get a lot of deliveries. Sometimes the packages are left at my door and sometimes there's a call slip. One time, I had a large delivery, (20+ boxes), and the delivery guy opened my gate and went into my backyard and left them all stacked by the pool. Another time, they left this huge box at my door and stuck my welcome mat over the top of it. I was cracking up. I couldn't stop laughing, as if my little welcome mat was going to hide the fact that there was this HUGE box blocking my front door!

I've had them deliver packages when I was home and they still left them on the door step. I believe the drivers start to bank information about certain residents who work the grave or swing shifts. I've also found a many larger packages on my backdoor step.

I like when they hide the package and leave a notice on your door. On the notice, they write "look behind the bush in front yard" or "look behind deck." That is very secure! I must say that the FedEx and UPS drivers in my area are very curtious. In addition, they always ring the bell before leaving any package.

haha, that never happened to me before. but there was this one time i order 2 package and somehow it was from different companies. UPS and FedEx came at the same time! and i saw it from my windows. they RAN to my door to see who wins. it's so funny. the fedex guy lost and said "man, you beat me." HAHA. thought that was amusing.

Update...

Still no word on what they are doing. I tried to call back, but just got an agents voicemail.

I know they deliver more than they lose.. Or they wouldn't be in business. It just annoys me that they don't seem to care when they do lose a package. That is the part that conserns me with the company/people I have talked to about this issue.

Did you see the news when it was on Christmas Day? Mails was falling off from the sorting machines. Of course the workers put it back into the machine but what if one kinda slide under the machine?

Only package I've had missing/stolen is a console windshield for my boat. I bet whoever took it was dissappointed. Just a big piece of plastic. Replacement was covered by UPS or the shipper. I'm not sure who.

I would not bet on that.

One time FedEx lost a shipment of mine. It was a one day, ground shipment from one warehouse my company owns to our corporate office. After three days I contacted FedEx and was told that the package had been mistakenly shipped to Europe by Fed Ex. Three or Four days later Fed Ex told me they had lost the package and to give them some time to locate it. After about a month I contacted them and told them I wanted to file an insurance claim (Yes, the package was insured). Boy did their tone change when they realized they would have to pay out $5K due to losing the package. When I tried to file a claim they asked me if the shipping box had any distinguishing marks or logos on it. When asked why they told me they wanted to check their lost and found location. It seems that Fed Ex has an entire hangar at the airport in Memphis, TN. that is FULL of packages that could not be delivered. Turns out, they found my needle in their haystack and delivered it to me six weeks after the original date it should have been delivered.

Moral of the story is, DO NOT believe the tracking information you see on the Fed Ex web site. When they lost my package it said everything BUT that it was lost (ie In Transit, Delivered, etc)

P.S. This was not the only package Fed Ex lost for me. It was however the only one they were able to find.
