Small update but progress is progress. I always checked my ball joints every time I had the wheels off the ground, all the lbj failure pics made me nervous but I am broke so I just continued to check them all the time. That is until Saturday last week. Pulling out of my buddies driveway I heard a creak and light pop noise... promptly quit putting it off and order OEM ball joints. After removal the driver side still pretty solid, passenger side not so much. It was so loose and bad it might have gone the next time I crossed the train tracks... And while I was in there I upgraded to tundra 231 brakes. I love it, so smooth compared to the old warped stock crap. And piece of mind knowing my lbj are done! I didn't take any progress pics, because its well documented everywhere. But here is the carnage and left overs.

also for the record, if its hot, sun shining, wear a belt, tuck in a shirt or anything to prevent plumbers crack,(mechanics crack) sun burns and bad things happen, :moon:

So, my best looking upgrade so far finally happened! I got my lift, spacers, and a new set of 285/70R17 Nitto Terra Grappler G2's (that was painfully expensive, only my second set of brand new tires ever, I have bought many cars for less than these cost) 3 in spacer lift(I know, hate all you want, it serves my needs for now) 1.5 inch wheel spacers, finally fill out those limited flares. I got to borrow a lift at work for the day to knock out my lift kit, so much easier than rolling around on the ground in my driveway. Wow, the alignment was way out there after the lift, so I got it aligned, drives straight as new. I love the new look. It finally feels right, like my old 4runner but better.
I had one friend tell me it was a waste and I ruined it by changing everything, his opinion... :gun4: But while I stopped in to walmart on my lunch break yesterday, I was sitting in my 4runner about to leave when I got the feeling I was being watched, I look over for a second and there was a little old lady staring in my window?! She asked me if I was leaving and I said "yes maam, do you need my parking spot or something?" She says "no, but it looks like you have the tallest vehicle in the parking lot. Can you help me find my car?" So I said "of course" and helped her locate her little blue civic. "you have the tallest vehicle in the parking lot" made my day... I told my wife, "see I lifted my 4runner to help little old ladies" lol anyway here are a couple of quick pics, I'll have to get some good ones when we go camping soon, and some after its all cleaned up.

Three things.
First, many congrats on the beautiful young son.
Second, truck looks awesome. Love the look with the new wheels.
Third, I did the same seat swap on my 2000 Limited. Worked like a charm, was simple, and the results look like almost new seats.
