fender flare color on white

Hey guys. I have a white 97 4Runner with the black plastic fender flares. The flares are faded, so I'm going to paint them... but can't decide what color. I assume when they were new, they weren't black but maybe a charcoal color instead. It seems like painting them black may not look that great against the white.

Any suggestions on color? Or better yet, any photos if you've done the same thing?

I thought about that, but I'm worried that it may not match since my 4Runner probably isn't as "white" as it used to be.

if it's worth it to you, you could probably take the paint can to a paint shop and they can make it match by adding little this's and thats.

SR5 flares or Limited or Sport flares?

White to match your body color could turn out quite distinctive. Let's
see a shot of what you have now. No photo host is required any longer....

Be aware there were 2 whites- mine is 056 but not sure if that was a 97 color. Look at your door jamb info to decipher your color code to be sure.

Otherwise I would just go black-my ride is going for the black and white look all around....of course some folks with Limiteds have a silver flare look against the white which they like but to me just looks odd... no offense guys....:keyboard:

The newer tacos look sweet with white on white, I've thought about this for mine too. I know my '97's color is called "natural white", but I don't know the paint code.

There's only one Natural White in the paint chart for 96-02 4runner,,yours would be "056" just like Ron's.

That chart could be its own sticky! Really helpful to recall the end of the 2.7L and the colors.

I stand corrected-only one white offered for 3rd gen Runners it would appear. Natural White #056

Go for it KCYota I don't think I have seen anyone with SR5 flares white on white. That might turn out nicely.

yes Ron, I refer to that chart everytime..when my brother in Cali dented his rear bumper and asked me to buy him one here in Vancouver. I used that color chart for his thundercloud metallic...It was a perfect color match.

I second white fender flares on white body. I saw one on local craigslist with the exact same flares you have and he had his painted to match his white runner...It was real nice..I mean real nice.

Natural White is one of two whites for the 3rd Gen.
There is also Golden Pearl, which came on the 02 Sports with EVERYTHING color keyed, even the licence plate panel.
It's sort of like a cream/off white.
