Fender Flare Fading

I'm pondering either to get my flares repainted or just plasti-dip them. The clear coat is fading on all four.

Thoughts?

Is the paint coming off or does it just look dull? If just dull a good rubbing compound and polish should work but if the paint is coming off you could get some color matched paint off amazon for the bad spots and go over with spray 2k clear. I have done several pieces of my car with that (door handles, mirrors, grill) and it turned out great. I can find you some pics if you want

This is very common with these trucks. The clearcoat goes bad for some reason on the plastic pieces from what I can tell. I wet sanded and buffed mine to improve the look a bit, but ultimately I think I will re-paint and re-clear them next year.

Oh okay yeah that’ll need a repaint. In all honesty the paint and clear I used were easy to use and would save you a lot of money from a actual paint shop. Plastidip would be cheaper though. Here are some of the paintwork pics to give you an idea. (Btw sorry for the upside down pic)

I like how that turned out. What paint did you use and how did you get the colors to match?

I have a silver SR5 and would the grill to match the body.

You will also need this for the top coat

Make sure when you do it that you prep the grill properly. I sanded first with 600 grit (followed by a clean down with isopropyl alcohol) then did a light spray of primer to help with bonding.

Plasti-diped

Plasti-dip was the option I went for. It was something I worked with before, so I trusted myself doing that more so then painting.
