Fender year compatibility?

Hello everyone. I am helping my buddy fix his 06 4runner and we need a passenger side fender. I found one in good condition, same color, for a good price but it's from an 04. I called 4 different salvage yards and 2 said the 03-05 fenders are different, the other 2 said they are the same as the 06-09. I checked the OEM parts site and they have different part numbers by one number. Does anyone here know if they will fit for sure or not?

They're different. You need one from an 06-09 for sure

They fit but are different - that's why you might get conflicting info.

The earlier ones were more squared off and the later ones rounded out a little more, but the mounting points stayed the same. You'll want the correct year/era so that they match.
