Fenders : Plastic Cladding Separating from Metal

Hello:

I noticed the plastic fender cladding is separating from the metal part of the rear doors. It appears to be attached with some sort of clip.

1 - Anybody else see this?
2 - Any suggested fix ...other than a body shop visit?
3 - Any after market mods I might use seizing this opportunity to MOD.

Thanks,
4DR

I've had to fix one. That piece is held with plastic clips on the top and rivets on the bottom. They use 2 different kinds, a blue one and a orange one. I just went to a dealership and bought a bag full of them. They're cheap, like a quarter each or something. Just pay attention to which colors come from where when you remove them. These are a one time use, so yours just probably broke from the plastic being weathered over the years. Also, the plastic ribs that hold them to the cladding piece have a tendency to break as well when you try to remove these. I had to repair mine with epoxy, so be careful. I don't recommend you do it in cold weather because the plastic pieces become very brittle... I know.

As for as mods go, I know that some guys were looking into having Bushwhacker make some for 4th gens, but I don't think it ever happened. You can probably search and find the thread.

Good luck with the repair and LMK if you have any questions.

Thanks for the reply and the information. The one I noticed was Orange.

I think my 7 year old REALLY likes to close the door. :sobbing:

I've had to replace my driver side fender flare because of this. It was a $300 part. Not cheap at all, but it bugged THE CRAP out of me.
