i am working on my buddies 2000 4runner limited. there seems to be a feul delivery problem because the car wont start. i replaced the fuel pump for him and the filter in free and clear yet there seems to be no feul getting to the motor. the motor cranks over with no problems but just wont start. any ideas on what i should do next? the guy at the dealership said he was stumped.

has it been in a wreck since this started? um... have you tried pulling the lines off the fuel rail?

how far is the fuel getting in the car?

you have a lot of guesses here ... verify if there is or isn't fuel getting to the engine first. You should check for voltage at the pump, and if needed you should be able to jumper the fuel pump through the diagnostic block on the engine. I haven't personally looked at the diagnostic block on the 4runner, but every other toyota w/ this has a 12v power b+ and a FP for fuel pump terminal.

If you figure out that the pump is working and getting fuel to the fuel rail, then the next step would be to check to make sure you have injectors firing, (test noid is the best option here, although i have also used a test light in a pinch).
