THanks man! We should meet up sometime before you head out of town, and really get into some talk on your truck man! I've had mine for 8 years now, and have been part of this site for at least 2 years..... and haven't had any other 4Runner dudes around to compare notes with! lol~

I know i am going back a ways.. but does your woman complain about the lack of leg room in the co pilot seat?

I went on a date not too long ago and believe it or not the first out her Gob was "how do you move the seats back"? I already knew that there were as far back as the manufacturer wanted... so i says" No Sweetie, thats as far as they go"

Never saw her again... sadly... she did have some long A$$ legs on her though. I'm 6ft she had me by 1" with her heels on...

I actually just posted that a few posts above...but a Sport Edition Skid plate, with custom mounts, maybe some D-Ring shackles....and then much later some L.E.D's......Got to slow down on the mods....that wheel and tire cost me $612.00 with a set of Lug nuts!

I hate em too... if you ever saw what a recluse spider can do you be a scared aswell.. I could be wrong though, i'll wager that they might not have em in Canada.

$600.00 was for just the 1 rim and 1 tire for the spare......

Little bit of dirt, and a little bit of preventative maintenance!

Well, yesterday was Father's Day, and it rained like a MOFO. So a trip to my dad's farm was in the cards, and that meant a muddy dirt road.

I figured I'd take a pic for you guys, to prove that it does get dirty..... sometimes! lol!

This morning, I decided to tackle the steering rack guide! I ordered the parts from the local dealer the other day, and got them next day for $167.00.

But found the old cap to be a real PITA to get off! After trying an adjustable wrench with a bar, and having it roll one of the corners off the nut, I opted to take it to the garage down the road and see how much he'd charge to just crack the cap loose for me. About 5 minutes of his time, and the use of a large socket (30mm??), he charged me $10.00 and I was on my way home to finish the job.

Once home, I removed the old cap:

I then took the truck on a test drive to see how it rode. I had to loosen off the cap a little, as the steering was too tight, and wouldn't roll back straight on it's own after a corner. A couple of adjustments, and I was good to go. This could have been avoided had I owned a torque wrench that measured in Ft/lbs, but was no big deal for me.

Nothing really wrong, just a little bit of vibration in the steering wheel over wasboards. I'm told this will solve that, along with changing my steering rack bushings. Those are on order, and i'm waiting for them to come in.

Besides, after swapping out the rest of my front end, why not do the steering rack?? lol!

I certainly did guys! I start working as a Security Guard / Advanced Medical First Responder for Vale Mining, on July 4th!

I've been collecting my severance pay from my old job since January, basically getting paid to stay home, work on my 4Runner and on my house! lol! The severance package is due to end at the end of August, and I had been trying to get a job with Vale and searching the Job banks online since January.

After paying $700.00 for the Advanced First Aid course, and jumping through all their hoops, I got the call yesterday that I would be starting work on July 4th!

Now, I'm supposed to get a check from my previous employer, for the remainder of my severance, (about a month's worth of pay), and will be making an easy $10.00/hr more than at my old job!

My main plan for the money... spend some on my house, gotta save up for new Siding in the fall, getting a tattoo to cover my old bull with boxing gloves...lol!

As far as the 4Runner, I've pretty got it where I want it as far as mods. I'm most likely gonna do a new rad, and then save for a sport hood and have the front of the truck painted and blended with the rest!

So today I decided to tackle my contaminated wheels! Seems as though, after driving the truck on my dad's dirt road in the rain, and leaving the mud sit on the wheels for a few days, the wheels had become contaminated!

Even after a thorough wash, with some strong wheel cleaner, they looked like this!

What a PITA! I ran out of my Autosol, so ran to the local parts store and picked up a bottle of Mother's Wheel Polish to try and buff that crap off!

After about an hour, I got all 4 wheels looking like this:

It's not perfect, but will do for now. I'm going to pick up another tube of Autosol next time I drive by the store, and give them another go!

Congratulations Fightman! That's awesome.

I had a similar experience w/my last job transition... got a good chunk of paid time off, then found a much better job. It's awesome isn't it?

Enjoy your last couple days off, and hopefully you can spend a day with the fam. You'll miss the time off once you're back on the grind.
