lol, back in Arkansas, every now and then on my way to work I'd pass this 3rd gen 4Runner and no shit it was close to this color with company logos on it. I don't know if it was wrapped or painted that color but man was it hard to look at!! I use to have a picture of it but I couldn't find it.

I ended up getting one through a friend who knows a parts guy. Guy told me he could get me everything I need for $475.00. Just need to make a little road trip to pick it up.
I'm hoping to get a call while I'm on my days off.... so I can I make the trip to pick it up!

Also, finding a new 3rd Gen in better shape, out here.... never. I've never seen one locally as clean as mine. Trust me, I've been looking...
Everything I see, has rust everywhere and much more mileage than mine does. :\
I've had so many people offer me money to buy this truck, it's hilarious!

Do the Orange! I've been thinking about painting my truck for years now but my paint is in great shape & it wouldn't be money well spent. I love the stock Thunder Cloud (I have Desert Dune) but if I do paint it it would have to be something that no one else has. I love Dark Burnt Orange. Most stock Oranges are pretty ugly from any car company. As someone above said, it has to be dark. I'd do Candy Apple or Metallic, something like this.

You cant do Metallic. You could get closer using CMYK rather than the RGB color gamut. Metallic flakes are added to paint or ink. (I'm in the printing business)

I've been really thinking about it hard... and think I'm going to go with a dark red metallic color... thinking Barcelona Red Metallic... looks like this on a Rav4.

I like the light blue... it's called Speedway blue... and my Taco has it...

Alright! So for those who don't know.... Probably most of you... I've been searching for a scooped hood for my 1998 4Runner for several years.
In Canada, they were a very rare option, only available on 2000 - 2002 4Runner Badlands Edition trucks, and only came in black.
As a Canadian, aftermarket companies wouldn't sell me one, because the shipping costs are astronomical. If I lived in a border town, I could jump across to the U.S, but again, fuel, food, etc... Wouldn't make it cost effective.
I finally decided to bite the bullet, and although I let go of a good deal through someone here on the forum, I ended up getting one through a friend of mine who knew the parts guy at the nearest Toyota Dealership.
I'm still on the lookout for another rear hatch... as mine had a bondo repair done when I was rear ended a few years ago, and it cracked. I spoke to a collision shop owner today, he said that any repair to the hatch, with a tire vibrating on it all the time, will crack again. So looks like I'm looking for another hatch.
I located a brand new one at a collision center in the same town I got this hood... but the guy is asking $1200.00 for it. I might be able to bargain with him a little bit.... he's had it in stock for 3 years, and hasn't been able to get rid of it.
So, with all that said, I finally got my Scooped hood for my old truck! Phase one of her mild restoration has begun!!
In the mean time... here's a pic I snapped of her at sunset the other day...

Alright, so step 1 of getting my 4Runner project started, involves me pulling it off of daily driving duty, and getting the wife a little car.
We hunted around, looked at financing a newer car... and finally just decided to buy a beater to keep our payments to a minimum.
Without further ado... I bring you.... a 2003 Saturn Ion! lol! The local dealership was selling it for $1000.00 as is. I was out of town at work, when my wife found the car... and negotiated it to $900.00 taxes included.
The car needed a new windshield, rear coil springs, and some lower control arm bushings.... after all was said and done... we're in it for under $2200.00, licencing and registration included/
It had some choice... "mods".... I removed the fake fender vents and deer decals, and will most likely try to convince her to ditch the tail light covers in the next few days. :bigok:

After we removed the chrome stick on stuff, restored the yellowed headlights, and detailed the car...
Now! I went to a couple of bodyshops today, to get quotes for the paint job on the 4Runner..... so far... I'm looking at $8000 - $12000!! :barf:

Even after converting that to real money instead of the Loony that's still a crap ton! Does that include the engine bay and door sills?

Door sills etc... included.... I even have to fork over half of my maple syrup collection in the deal!

Just so long as they don't come hunting for your Canadian bacon farm I think you'll make it. On a side note making your own maple syrup is very rewarding my family has been doing it for years and it makes everything more delicious.
