It's really not that hard to do.....just a little time consuming....and even that! I would spray a coat of paint, then go in the house and watch a movie for 10minutes, then go back....and so-on until it was finished!

Wheels came out fantastic! They look very OEM as well, I also like that little detail of the red lettering. Very carefully done work as usual.

I can't afford aftermarket rims at the moment and have been thinking about painting my stock 3 spokes gunmetal gray. You sir, have inspired me to move this project to the top of my "to do" list. They look great!! What do you guys think, will that color will go well with a white 4Runner? :shrug:
 
I definately think it would look good with your paint scheme. Just an FYI, the paint I used is NOT a Toyota color. It's actually a Honda Color....Grey Galaxy Metallic or something like that.

There are Toyota Colors that are similar, but I found Anthrasite a little too dark for my liking, and really liked the Metallic Hue I got from this paint. I'm not sure what kind of retail stores you have at your disposal....but try to find a store that carries Duplicolor paints, and take a look at all your choices....there are tonnes of them......which makes it great!

It's nice to see practical work being done that keeps 10+ year old vehicles looking new. These things are basically a rock-solid chassis that is open for modification.

Much better than the discussion going on at a Jeep Compass forum where they are *****ing about leaking sunroofs on 2008s and patting each other on the back for putting a new air-freshener on the rear view mirror. :uzi:
 
Thanks for sharing the info for the paint Fightman. I have Advance Auto stores locally and they carry the Duplicolor line. Much appreciated!
 
Licence plate trim Refurbishing

Alright, so I decided to re-paint my Licence Plate Trim piece. When I added my 4Runner Emblem on the bottom driverside section of the liftgate, I ended up having 2 "4Runner" emblems on the hatch. The one on the the top of the trim plate, was pitted and flaking, so I removed it. Unfortunately, under the emblem, there was 2 holes left by the the locating pins. So I filled those, and then decided to paint the assembly.

Since I had some left over paint from the wheels, I decided to use that paint to do the trim piece with that.

Here's a pic of the entire back of the truck masked off and painted:

Honestly, I'm not crazy about it. I find that it looks too light on the back of the liftgate. Also, for some reason, the paint kinda looks blotchy??? I'm thinking it's because I painted it outside in the sun, so I'm gonna look into removing it, and re-paint it with Toyota Graphite paint at a later date. While I'm at it, I'll most likely restore my front grill at the same time. The grey paint in there is starting to fade, and the mesh I put in the grill is rusting......so that will be done the same day.....
 
I have a question for you, do you know if those Pro Comp's will allow the 231mm calipers from the tundra? Runner's looking good.
