When they said gas prices would drop a bit a few months ago I wasn't expecting anywhere under $2/gal but it keeps going down and this morning I paid $1.42 here in Littleton. (SW Denver)
Man,anything over $3 is going to suck all over again.
Loving it too! Price is not as good as your area, RonM...we get 1.69 reg and 1.92 premium around Houston TX. But hey, i am driving my G everyday now because i am not sure how long this will last. Woohoo!

Yup, the G is definitely heavy for it's size. The footprint of my G500 is very similar to your 3rd gen 4runner (length & width). The only difference is that my G is also quite tall (height). Yet, despite it's compact dimensions, it weighs as much as my brother's '01 Lexus LX470 (and thus, heavier than the previous Toyota Land Cruiser and about the same as the new TLC). It is built to a whole different heavy-duty degree than other vehicles.
Of course, with weight comes bad fuel economy. My G gets about 12-13 mpg in city and 14-15 mpg on highway...according to my dash readout. (This past weekend, i got 15.5 mpg on a 180 mile trip on the highway!)
By EPA standards, i think that it is rated at 12/14 mpg. It does need premium gasoline...whether it actually needs it or not i am not sure. I do fill it with premium simply because i am anal and do plan on keeping it a long time.

I just filled up the 04 and it was $32.50 and it took 20 gallons. I thought if it was $4.00 a gallon that would be $80. Wow, that is a big difference. (It is now $1.61.)
Some people are talking about raising the taxes on gas to make it so it will stay high. When it was up, it was due to the economy, now that it is down, it is the same thing. With gas going down, that should help us get out of this recession, by raising it, boy that would take money out of our pocket, that we can now use for other stuff, like, oh I don't know, food, rent and other wasteful things.
