Finally a T4R owner!

After months of searching, I finally found a one that checked off most of the boxes if you will.

Found a 2007 SR5, 4x4 V8
107k/mi
Leather, no sunroof.
One owner with tons of service docs including the CV's and Timing belt replaced at 97k/mi

Pretty excited. I have a lot of mods in my head that I want to do. We'll see what the boss approves.

First thing will be plasti dipping the ugly factory wheels. The clear is pealing off them so I don't feel too bad about it. Something to get me by until I find some aftermarkets.

Yank the running boards..

Want to do a lift, have to figure out what route to take. I think it needs struts so that's a easy decision.

Gotta do some research on what exhaust I want.

And down the road, I want to do a bumper replacement.

Anyway... Happy to be a owner among you.

What would y'all do first?

Like you said, LOSE the stupid running boards. Also, maintenance. Make sure it's all up to date. Lots of fluids, plugs, acc belt, joints, boots, brakes, etc. And lose the pin striping.

Plugs are done, I'm sure fluids are current but I'm going to check.

Thanks, I'll check all that.

Do all the cheap things first to allow for ample research time for the expensive parts. No sense in rushing every $1K you drop into the vehicle only to find out it wasn't the best decision for you.

Welcome :)

Go for leds inside and maybe outside if you have funds!! Make such a big difference not only in brightness but help the battery as well look on amazon they have full kits relatively cheap! Congrats and welcome man!:)

Thanks man,

This forum is amazing, really glad we have a resource like this. But there is SO much information. I'm currently researching lifts that would allow me to run a 275/65/18. SOOOO many choices... the more I read the more my head is like...

I'll figure it out. Biggest concern is if i'm gonna need UCA's.

For the stripes....I have a eraser wheel in and drill in the truck now, plan on peeling them off at lunch today.

Welcome to the club, man. I've had my 4th gen for nearly three years now and I love it as much, if not more, than the day I got it.

If you do end up plasti dipping your wheels, please let us know how it works out with the peeling. My wheels are peeling, too, and I was curious whether that would have an impact on the process, i.e. make it harder to peel off, etc.

As for suspension, good luck. I've got Bilstein 5100's and Moog FJ coils waiting for some warmer weather for installation, but if you're thinking of getting a new bumper - steel, I imagine - you'll need beefier springs, most likely.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy.

Thanks, my thinking is that the factory 5 spokes are pretty hidious anyway, so they plastidip will just be something to get me by until new wheels get here. But I might just buy some new wheels and get tires pretty quick so I might not make the effort.

Either way the OEM wheels can't have much value, so I would probably sell them ultra cheap on CL with the new tires the stealership put on them.

Looking at the Level 8 MK6 in black.

I'm basing my tire size on the availability of tires. The 18" listed above and the 267/70/17 are common OEM take off sizes. I've found Good year AT's for ~$500 with chevy wheels on CL with 2k miles. But the 18's are the same way. Just need to figure out what look I want. I think my life would be easier if I stuck with 17's, so thats the way i'm leaning.

As far as a lift goes, I think I want a 3/2 lift, and I need struts, so i'm debating between this:
3" Lift W/ Bilstein 5100 Height Adj Coilovers FJ/4Runner

Or Bilsteins with OME coils. Looks like 865's in front and 895's out back? Having trouble finding pricing on ARB's site for the coils...

I agree with you. The stock 5-spoke is ugly. The day I bought my 4runner they had 3 on the lot. A limited, a V6, and mine. Mine was in the best shape, but had the ugly 5 spokes. Ah well, didn't want to run spacers anyway.
