Well guys I've been wanting to buy a 3rd gen for quite a few years. On and off, life happend and I became busy and just didn't need one, that and other projects got in the way.
So about 2 months ago I was searching Craigslist, a usual habit, I always look forward to flip to make some extra money. Never hurts right lol....
So I found a gentleman selling a trailblazer for $1500, in the background of theocrats initiated a white 4Runner. I called him up and asked about the 4runner, he said that it was also for sale. After talking for about 20-30 minutes he said he didn't really want to sell it because he would be without a car. By the would sell it to me if I gave him a couple of weeks to find a new vehicle. I agreed, thinking that this deal might not happen. I went the following day to look at it. It was a 99 limited, auto with no e-locker. But it was a 1 owner super clean, well everything just needed to be cleaned, nothing a good detail wouldn't fix. Some minor wear inside. Just turned over 200k miles. Ran and drove like a champ, only thing I noticed was a slight brake pulsation.
After looking at it and driving it we agree on a price of $2,300. He said he would call me once he found something he wanted to buy. So after about 3 weeks I get the call. He's bought a vehicle and This 4Runner is ready for pick up!!!!
Cash in hand my wife and I went the following morning to pick it up. I couldn't be happier. I'll be doing some usual maintenance in the next few weeks.
I removed the running boards lol
Things to come.
Front brakes
T belt, waterpump and seals.
Plugs and wires, valve cover gaskets just because.
External trans cooler.
Eventually I'd like to install a small lift and some bigger tires, then convert to an e locker.
I couldn't be happier with it. I really wanted to buy a fj80, but this is more than enough for what I need in a a vehicle. The miles don't bother me, i might only put 5k miles on it per year since this is a secondary vehicle.
