No it will be next summer!

I will try to have one made that utilizes the entire width of the trunk (sit on top of wheel wells) with upward firing subs so that I can at least put my golf bag in!
 
I'll get more pics up next week. I've been working way too damn much and I'll be camping this weekend so I'll make it a priority next week. I still need to put in more dynamat too so hopefully I can do it all at the same time.
 
No bears to worry about here in South Dakota, but there has been a problem with mountain lions lately. Frankly I'd rather see a bear, but I will keep the W7 thing in mind should a cat be stalking me in my 4Runner.

Yeah I would love to see pix of your audio set up. Can you explain what that 160GB is? And what is it for?
 
It's a 150 GB portable hard drive. If you connect one of these to your HU you could store TONS of songs and videos and then play them when you wanted.

160gigabyte hard drive full of music and movies hooked up to the JVC head unit. It's not full, but it still takes a minute or two for the head unit to read it when you start the truck. If I want music right away I'll use the remote start so it's ready to go when I get in. I figure the wait time is worth having all that music readily available.
 
So I got a $20 MultiMeter at radioshack today because I feel that my installers didnt set the gains correctly....they didnt, gain on sub amp was all the way up....anyway I downloaded a 0db 35Hz sub frequency tone to adjust the gain. Turned out it needed to be just above half way.

Adjusted the gain and continued to play the tone @ 800RMS watts outside.

I went inside and my parents though that a helicopter was landing on the roof...pictures were vibrating, stuff was vibrating off of desks etc. They were like WTF is that LOL.

The resonance @ that frequency was unbelievable due to the fact that its what my box is tuned at.

IT WAS AWESOME!!!

That new amp is going to be ridiculous!

I cant find any place to stick the leads of the dmm on the PDX speaker amp due to proprietary connectors.

I adjusted it by ear (just over half as well)_

Good job at picking up on their mistake. It stinks though, you pay all that money for them to install it correctly, but the damn installers mess it up. Good thing you found the problem.

Ok, a couple things. You don't need a DMM to adjust the gain. You do however need one to set the sensitivity so I suppose that is what you are talking about. The sensitivity depends on the load you are placing on your amp (1ohm, 2 ohm, etc.). The gain is simply how much you want the amplifier to boost the signal, it is what is controlled with a remote bass control if you had one, and you probably wouldn't use it if you had to break out the DMM every time you wanted to make an adjustment.
Is the DMM you got a true RMS multimeter? If it is then you should check to see what the manufacturer recommends when setting sensitivity, whether it be peak or RMS cause you don't want to set RMS if they want peak otherwise you could overdrive your subs into early failure.
I may be wrong with my questions, but as an electronics guy I had to ask.

friggin cool man. I miss messing around with my audio system. I so want to put sounds back in my car. I just accepted a better job so hopefully I can start "playing" again.

But you know those wifeys, they want you to save and shit. I hate saving, but there might be some truth to that.

Maybe we can find a happy medium.

Yea I just upgraded the sub amp to an AudioQue 2200D 1300RMS @ 2ohm and 22rms @1ohm

It will be awesome

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong specs but I believe your amp puts out 800 rms with a 2 ohm load? Just wondering why you upgraded to a different mono so soon when your current setup operates at an ideal level given all the components. That's a badass set up btw :bigok:

your right it does, it wasnt enough for me.

im over-powering them by 150 now but its ok, next summer is a custom box and two RE sx wired at a 1ohm load for 2200rms watts of chest pounding power!
 
I'm curious to see how long those subs last with all that power! Post up a video of your system flipping a quarter on top of your roof :cool:
