Finally got my lift installed!!

What's up guys, I finally did it... I've got an '07 that was totally stock until last weekend. I went with the Toytec 3" lift - next I just need to get bigger tires. But first things first... I get to replace a CV axle this weekend. My boot ripped and grease is everywhere, so I'm about to learn how that's done. Seems pretty easy - except it seems that seal is pretty easy to mess up. But we'll see how it goes on Sunday. Here are a couple of pics - before and after the lift. Hopefully I can get some more fun ones soon.

Nice what did you go with, Boss or Ultimate?

I was going to go with the ultimate but I decided to go with Toytec's basic 3" lift with the Toytec/Eibach springs. I put the extra money towards the light racing UCAs. Now I'm realizing it would be nice to be able to adjust them without taking them back out.

congrats!! why such a large rake? Are they adjustable?

I'm assuming I still have the rake because I went with the HD springs in the rear - one day I'll get a steel bumper to add some weight back there. I guess it could also be that I just need to adjust the front shocks. I have the bilstein 5100s so I can adjust them, but I need a spring compressor. And need to get comfortable doing my own suspension work.

I don't think that's such a good idea if it's the basic Toytec lift. The 5100s should come preset at 3" lift from Toytec, and they don't advise you go up another clip with those Eibach springs in there. I think you may just be stuck with the rake until you get the heavier rear bumper.

Or you could always buy a set of standard superflex rears, install them for now, then swap to the HDs when you get the bumper and sell the superflex in like-new condition to recoup the cost...

Just my two cents. :) Your truck looks fantastic, by the way! Great job!

Thanks, I appreciate it. I'll just leave the HD springs in there for now - the rake doesn't really bother me and you're right - any more lift in the front and I'd run into problems.

looks good, have fun with the axle lol I'm only joking its not terribly difficult. Do the express method described below, was very easy this way for me.

I got the axle done, the two worst parts were the dust cover and the tie rod. I had way more trouble getting my dust cover off than most people. I ended up finding a scraper/chisel that worked well, but that was after about 20 min of frustration. I also gave up with the pickle fork and got a tie rod puller which worked perfectly. Besides those two issues, things went smoothly - or as smoothly as they can for the first time. I'm waiting a few days to make sure it doesn't leak (I'm sure I'll regret not replacing the seals at the same time) and then I'm changing my diff fluid. I guess messing up is the best way to learn.

All the vehicles I had with a rake really affected braking. Just be careful in weather. It really nose dives and lighten the rear.

Other people, whom have installed the HD springs, WITHOUT a rear tire carrier/bumper installed, have complained about an insanely harsh ride in the rear. Are you experiencing any of that?

Ha, absolutely. Even going over speed bumps, the front is smooth and the rear just comes crashing down.

I never even thought about that. I wish steel bumpers and tires were cheaper! That would solve my problems...
