Finally: My rear bumper build

actually I do. ill pm you with some of the info. most of it is just rough measurements
 
Nice job! I'm gettin ready to build one myself. I wonder if 3" tube with only 1/8" wall thickness is tough enough. I do like how light it is.
The end of the frame where you angled the cut is screaming for an eyelet for a shackle.

Im sure 3x3 .120 wall is strong enough to take a serious beating. even if t got a little dented after a while I wouldnt care.

I was going to do weld through shackle mounts, but they cost almost as much for a pair as my entire bumper. I will just use a looped strap through the receiver hole and hooked around the receiver hitch pin
 
Ok I'm starting the group buy for Jason's bumper. Is there going to be an optional tire swing away/gas can holder? How will you accommodate for the limited flares??? Just kidding...kind of... I already told ya, but that thing is T.I.T.S

well adding for limited flares would be super easy. EYEBALL ENGINEERING :)

here is a pic from the side with my tailpipe cut off and the tow points removed. Im super stoked on how much clearance there is.

Ohh and i changed the color to semi-gloss to match the front arb and the little paint left on my sliders

You really did a nice job making a good-looking, quickie bumper.. and for $80, that's cheaper than one side panel for the stock bumper! I'm glad you decided to go with plate, it's looks cleaner than a rear tube bumper IMO.
 
Well, update after wheeling.

I smashed the heck out of my bumper wheeling with Scuba and Troyboy on Hammerdown in Cougar Buttes. I grabbed a few pics from Scuba. I had to use my winch 3 times... 33's and one locker just dont cut it anymore...

The bumper is perfect! I hit the side, and i am so pleased to see that the boxed sides using 1/8" plate didnt bend. It was a great day

Almost had to say the last words to my rear window. I slid towards that rock... had about an inch or so :)

Looks like the bumper did it's job.:bravo: With the kind of wheelin you're getting into, it looks like you should start saving your pennies for a solid axle.
 
well after much debate i ended up changing up my bumper a little bit, i just got done with welding, Im waiting for the paint to dry then ill post up some pics.
