They ride great. On dirt roads I have to watch my speed. If you drive "at a little under uncomfortable" then you will find yourself going a bit faster than you need to be going usually.

Hm. So basically when it starts to feel a bit too much you realize you're actually going WAY too fast? lol

Well yeah but the extended kings can extend further than the stock uca's can handle. So this maximizes droop.

I'm still only going to lift 1-1.2" depending on up travel. It does bother me that the king's have such a high collapsed measurement. I hope it is fine, I want to have good up travel as well. Might have to figure out total travel and then set my lift in the middle

Kings OEM length and extended length coilovers are the same unit. To make them extended length Kings removes a 1/2" spacer on the shaft. That gives you about 3/4' more travel at the wheel.

The limiting factor for our rigs once you go with aftermarket UCA's is the stock CV. They can't handle that extra droop and bind. If you are just cruising around fire roads it's not a big deal. If you wheel it harder that will cause you to blow CV's. My rig has RCV's and limit straps up front. That should give you an idea of how unimportant that extra droop really is on our rigs.

Do you know what the maximum droop the cv's can handle measured from the bottom lip of the fender to the center of the hub? I have limit strap parts, I will have them installed when I put everything on. I didn't want my expensive kings to be the "limiter" haha.

If I have to I will limit the travel further to protect the cv's, I can't afford new fancy cv's right now lol. I already replaced them with oem in the past 3 months so hopefully they will last at least a year.

Basically my goal is the whole "mid travel" concept, just maxing out travel without going to LT as I really don't need that for a DD.

Center of hub to fender is great for "How much lift did I get". It's not the way to figure out how to set limit or bump stops. For that you need to cycle the suspension. Plus, my rigs been cut up so my fenders are 3" higher then most. lol

I will tell you the easy way to set the limit length though. After you get the Kings on put everything back together and drive it for a week. That's just to help break in the new spring a bit.

Get it back in the garage and make sure your in 4x4. Jack up the front end and support it with stands. Put the t-case in neutral. Spin each tire. You will feel and mostly likely hear the bind. Crank the limit strap top nut down 1/8". Repeat the tire spin and limit adjustment until you no longer hear or feel bind.

Limit straps stretch with use. After a month check the front again. After every hard wheeling trip check the straps again.

RCV's have a larger range then stock. Even at full droop I don't bind. I still took 1/4" out of my droop to be on the safe side.

There's plenty of people here running stock CV's and EXT Kings that will never break a CV even without limit straps. It's about how hard you use the rig. Bind on a FS road isn't a big deal because there's nothing resisting that force. Once you start getting into harder wheeling that force is resisted by the rock your trying to get over. That's when CV's start snapping.

Well I meant more of "generally don't go past X amount of droop" more so as a base to start at, not so much the exact number haha.

But that is a good idea to test it in 4x4. Does it hurt to put her in 4 high while the engine is off?
