Finally Snow!

We got about 20" yesterday. The 4Runner is by far the BEST vehicle I have ever owned for snow. I tried to find hills that could stop the 4Runner, no can do. I was out before the plows even made a pass, maybe if it wasn't virgin snow it would have been different. I did get to play with the VSC and I was able to spin out. I was kind of surprised how easy it was. AMAZING VEHICLE!

I have the Bridgestone H/Ts with 13K miles, which sucks because I wanted the REVOs. I'm not going to waste money these tires work very good, maybe next year.

I had a 2 ft. drift in front of my garage. The Runner is a tight fit so I couldn't really get a running start but it pushed right on through no problems.
 
18" here...!!!! (not that I'm bragging or anything).

... and I'm spinning out EVERYWHERE. Those stock Dunlops suck ass. And I have only 17k on them. I just parked in my driveway tonight after driving down my semi-plowed road and looked at the tires. All 4 of them are CAKED with snow, you can't see any treads. Later this year they are GONE.

Koz, speaking of VSC: does it "beep" every time that yellow slippery truck on winding road icon comes on the dash screen, or just sometimes? 'Cuz I swear it used to beep all the time, and now 1/2 the time that yellow icon lights up, I get a beep. Sometimes it sounds like a "buzzing" from the dash area. Bad beeper?
 
So far they are predicting 6+ for thursday here. I know it's not what you all got , but were starving for snow here. Very unusual winter here for us.

I hope we get atleast that so I can test the Revo's out to see if I like them or not.

I would love to be out by you guy's just ripping up the street's & drifts , ect... with a pack of 4Runner's
 
I had around a huge drift by my driveway from the plows as well. I threw it into 4LO just to be safe and the 4Runner plowed right through like there was no snow. I had my brother outside watching and he said the snow went above the running boards at one point. I couldn't find anything that would stop my truck. I remember during last years blizzard, I had the Dunlop Grandtreks. What a major difference this year with the Revos! Revos=more fun.
 
The Revo's sound encouraging in the snow , I'm getting wound up for snow on thursday.......boy will you guy's hear some whining from me if we don't get anything here for me to wheel in.

The Nittos are very good. I put on a set last Thursday. The difference has been night and day for me.

my dunlops have about 24k on them (and are pretty well worn) and they held up fairly well on the unplowed roads here. i had to go slower than normal, but better to be safe than sorry. they're getting replaced after this summer though.

you didn't ask me, but whenever the VSC activates it definitely buzzes. when the wheels are slipping it sounds like you're winding a clock or something to that effect. can't remember if i've heard beeping though. :confused:

20" up here but this is like fourwheeling through features... This stuff is so light that you don't even need 4WD. The only time I thought I was going to have a problem was when I was plowed in... Plow piled snow up to the headlights, but it wasn't even an issue (even with the dunflops) just slowly pulled through the snow until I was clear, then on my way again...

As far as the VSC... Mine beeps if I really try to push it. If I am just getting started and haven't fish-tailed, it only buzzes.
 
Thanks for the replies, now I'm thoroughly confused since I got 1 buzz and 1 beep reply! I'll check the manual or maybe start another post, I don't want to hijack this one.

BTW, I used to get 3 beeps every time the icon lit up, from what I remember. Now only about 1/2 the time I get the beeping, but get the buzzing all the time, and YES, it does sound like winding a clock.
 
Knock on wood my stock tires haven't failed me in the snow yet. we got about 14 inches here and it forged through the snow as to be expected.
