Is it possible to figure out what country my T4R was originally purchased in by the VIN number, or some portion of it? The vehicle was apparently purchased outside the continental US, because Toyota has no records of it in their owner's system at all, and they told me the VIN is definitely not one from the continental US. It doesn't seem all that exotic, but I can't imagine where it would have come from otherwise. It seems to be a pretty standard SR5, except it does seem that it lacks differentials in any 4WD mode. I've yet to verify it so far, but the icon on the dash shows a solid dot in the middle of the transmission, and there's no differential lock button. However there's also no indicator that the differential is locked on the shift knob, i.e. a 4HL mode. I shifted into 4H today in a semi-wet parking lot and when I made a 90 degree turn I swear I could hear the wheels slipping a bit but I'm not sure...
Anyway, if anyone has heard of this, or more importantly, can help me guess where this thing came from, I'd appreciate it!
