Firestone Lifetime Alignment

Just a heads up and a bit of a question. I finally decided to buy in to the Firestone Lifetime Alignment program. I just purchased a new set of Geolander A/TS' (265/75) from Discount and my the truck was still pulling to the right. I went with Firestone because Big O was so ornery at my last alignment and insisted that the pull was because my tires were shot (which they were). I was told new tires would solve the problem, so I got them somewhere else.

Anyway, to my surprise, the Lifetime Alignment is actually on sale right now! It ended up being $40 off, which is nice.

The one thing I need to figure out though is what person at Firestone said during the intake chat. She basically said that car's generally don't need alignments more than twice a year. The way she phrased it made it sound like if I need more than twice a year then something is not right. Anyone have any opinion on this? I mean, I know that under normal conditions with a vehicle that's not as old as my 97 that might be correct. For the most part, I'm mindful of potholes and curbs. This has a lot to do with dodging craters during my formative driving years in Michigan.

I'm currently waiting for the alignment to be done, and I'm waiting for the usual up-sell and my polite response indicating that I try to work on my car myself.

So how much is the lifetime alignment? Is it only good for 2 per year? If I beat it up on a trail once a month and need an alignment is that okay too? I know NTB offers lifetime alignment if you buy tires from them but it's only good for that current set.
 
I purchased their life time alignment, and the one here has done my truck 3 or 4 times now. Never even mentioned the shinny new parts or any comments on the mud stains under the thing. They aren't my first choice in alignments, but I knew this was going to be going through a lot of repairs and changes over its "lifetime" so i gambled on it, and so far its paid for itself over and over again.

Josh, from what I understand from another forum member here and a few other posts, they'll do it for the life of the car regardless of how it was knocked out of alignment. I hope this stays the case!

Also, I just picked it up after about 25 minutes and no up-sell attempts and very friendly. Who would have thought?

I took advantage of that last year and have done it at least 6 times. I knock my alignment out very easily for some reason, and with all the suspension repairs I have done it has really come in handy
 
so its for each vehicle, right? so i could buy 3 lifetime alignments, 1 for each car, and never have to pay for an alignment again until i buy a different car??? nice!!!


does anyone know if its transferable? if so might make a good selling point if you decide to sell it.

and about how much is it???? im sure itll be more in cali, but just a ballpark to wrap my head around would be awesome. cheers!

I paid $120 when it was on sale in NC. I don't think it is transferable
 
Yeah, from what I understand it's not-transferable. Although if you ended up with the same make/model/year/color I'm sure no one would notice for a while at least. Hah!

Yep, I just paid about $140 after taxes.

@Dous; glad to hear I'm not the only one who has a Runner with an alignment that is easy to knock out. My other question was along the lines of "Is it bad if I need more than two a year?", but I think keeping in mind that I only ever really need them after driving 4x4 roads and such then I'm probably average.
 
I have the firestone lifetime also.

Been there like 6 times, its always under an hour and they have never tried to sell me anything.

Once they did give me a heads up on a possible power steering leak. But that was because I had just flushed the system and made a mess, haha.
 
We have the LA on my 4runner and my son's Jeep and Xterra. They have never complained that the rig is lifted, wheeled or that we come back too often. They do a great job and are quick. They have told me when parts need to be replaced but never push.
 
I just did mine this past Saturday. Firestone knocked off $20.00. So for $159.00 for lifetime seems like a good deal, and I asked when I sell it does it stay with the vehicle they said yes. Funny thing though when they went thru the checklist they RECOMMENDED washer fluid, I filled it up 2 days before. Tranny flush, I just did my full amsoil tranny swap 3 months ago. Other than the RECOMMENDED lies, they did a great job on alignment.
 
Another option if in your town: Express Tire. They had a lifetime warranty special this weekend...$99 total with tax. May still be going on.

Interesting. I'll have to ask the Firestone I just took mine to. That would be a crazy selling point (not that I could even think about selling my runner at this point).
 
I also purchased this about a month after I bought my 4runner. Whether or not you like firestone, it's worth it... 2 regular alignment payments and it's paid for so why not? I've gotten mine aligned several times and they always show me the reports of where it was out of whack, etc. For guys who wheel, it's not hard to knock stuff out of alignment so it's definitely something to consider purchasing for those of you who don't already have it.
 
One of the other good things about firestone vs other places is that they are nationwide (as far as i know anyway) so if you have a problem on a trip, you should be taken care of. That was a big deciding factory for me.
 
I'm on my 4th set of tires now and I get the alignment checked everytime I get new tires put on and I've never had to have it aligned. From the factory, its dead on and has stayed that way over the 170k miles I've put on it. Of course, I don't off road it at all, it stays on the pavement....perhaps they just tightened it up real good from the factory....

I usually take in my $10-20 off coupon which brings the alignment down to like $40 but I've yet to use it, they check it and say its good and they don't charge me.....
