First Acceleration Sounds a bit rough?--V8

I am not sure how long it has been doing this, it might have been doing it since I bought the truck 3 months ago but I never gave it a second thought. The first acceleration, meaning, the first time I accelerate after the engine has been started sounds a bit rough. The engine sounds strained and loud. After that first acceleration though, it sounds normal and smooth. Can any other V8 owners relate or have discovered a problem this may be connected to? Also the other day I started the truck, left it on for about a minute and turned it off. then i started it again about 2 minutes later and it started up very rough souding.

It's a 2003 SR5 with 81,003 miles on it. I have not been for an oil change at all since I have had it but the Maintainance light is not on and according to the CarFax the last oil change was 77,500 miles. Thanks.

Is it when it's hot out? The cooling fan which operates on a hydraulic clutch takes a second or two to disengage causing a roar; however, engine operation is still butter smooth.

The first thing I do when I buy a used vehicle is change the oil. I would not go by what carfax says. Get it changed for starters.

As far as sounding rough when you first start it up... check the air filter it may be really dirty or something.

Well I took it to the local Toyota dealer for a full check and everything including oil was good. And like I said, the maintenance light isn't on. Also I just put in a K&N air filter in toward the end of august. I'll double check to make sure the air box is fully shut.

The maintenance light starts to blink at 4500 miles and stays solid at the 5000 mark after being reset.

It does not know when you changed the oil - it does not monitor anything at all. How did the dealer say the oil was OK?

Well after they completed the inspection they said everything was good. Filters were fine they said the oil did not need to be changed yet.

This sounds typical of the V8 when you first start it and/or accelerate while the engine is still cold. The fan will be a little loud at first and the engine wlll idle high. Its normal.

Ok thank you I was hoping for this. My powertrain is covered until mid-January 2012 so I'm trying to make sure there are no issues I should be worried about.

While you're at it, you should check to make sure the exhaust manifolds are ok. It sounds like an annoying ticking exhaust sound that comes from underneath the engine compartment. It goes away somewhat when the engine is warm.

I've had both sides replaced under warranty. If not for the warranty it would have been an expensive repair.

Haven't heard anything like this. Also right when the warranty ends I plan on throwing on the full Magnaflow cat back exhaust system. So if there was a problem with a cracked exhaust manifold, would this be a remedy? I am not an expert on cars or anything haha
