MODS: I hope this is the right place, please move and accept my apologies if not.
I purchased this T4R for my Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) start-up project, because I need to access tower sites via things that can only be called roads with air quotes involved.
I tried to make it to both sites with my Chevrolet Traverse AWD and didn't get very far. Today I got my Nexen Roadian AT tires (which came with the vehicle) swapped out for Goodyear MT/R with Kevlar, and made it across the (3" deep) river, up some steep and very rocky terrain, and to the tower site. I'm looking forward to trying the other site soon!
Question: When going downhill on a trail where I have to go very slowly, am I OK to leave the manual transmission in neutral, or should I be keeping it in 4LOW/1st or something to spare the brakes? I worry about killing the engine if I do so, but I don't want to warp the brakes.
Pics for your enjoyment here, sample below. The bit of "road" showing there is much less rocky than what immediately preceded it.
