First time buyer

Hey guys, new to the forum! I am looking for a toyota 4runner gen 3 4x4 in the Texes area. I have looked around and have found some pretty bad looking ones that haven't been taken care of. Very rarely have I seen one that has been taken care of. Just wanted some advice and pointers as to what to look for and where to look?
