First time off-roading

Hey all,

I guess this is my intro. I've always wanted to go wheeling and I can consider this time my first. Here's my truck, completely stock besides the cb and rack. I live in SoCal and ventured silverado canyon/main divide with a friend that hikes and knows the area fairly well. This is the main reason I haven't been wheeling before because I don't really know anyone that can take me or is experienced. Anyway, enough blabbering and onto the pics. (don't mind the blue tape on the windshield, I just replaced it because the other one cracked)

Overall, I had an awesome time and wish to do it again soon. I scraped on a couple of areas and understand what sliders are for:thumb3: Hope you guys enjoy the pics...:thanks:

Welcome aboard! Scenery look awesome out there. I'm wheeling stock for now as well. It seems every time I gather up enough money to lift it and get some better tires, so other expense comes up... Hopefully someday I'll be able to do it. Really haven't experienced a whole lot of trouble doing light wheeling yet, just scraped the bottom a few times and the hitch but gotta do whatchya gotta do

haha definitely. That seems to my main interference point but shouldn't have much of a problem with that when lifted. One day... Any plans for the future yet?

Of course! I would love a lift but the wallet will not allow as of right now...for this particular trail, I would've appreciated another inch or two to be honest.. It will be done I'm sure, the more I get more seat time..

Welcome to the wilderness! Ahh I remember my first time, so long ago, a whole month ago. The mod bug hit me hard, I couldn't keep it stock. Lasted about 2 weeks.

I'm feelin the mod bug as well.....maybe some better tires will suffice however these yoko's have plenty of life in them.

you should make sure to hook up with the guys out in SoCal, brian2sun and Childrenofbodom etc.

Maybe we can even meet up when I come out there in March/April, Im always up for a new trail!

Toytruck- there are quite a few of us that live in So Cal and wheel pretty often. I have taken a couple of newbies out for their first couple runs and the others I wheel with are really cool with newbies also. (read we won't pressure you into doing something that you or your rig are not comfortable/capable of doing). Just to name a few of the other guys ProudRunner, Brian2Sun, Drifter(only met once never wheeled but Brian says he is good guy) Flyte74, Pure98, RaceRunner. Then again seems no matter where you are at there is a good group of guys. I know the CO guys are tight and wheel together often also.

Not what I heard...that truck was an offroad whore before you bought it. Used to run through mud puddles out by the truck stops :biggrin:

When I first got the truck, I hit brian2sun up and asked to go wheeling but I just never found the right time (sorry brian). I definitely would love to hit the trails with some more people, this way I can learn a thing or two. As of right now, I don't think I will be doing any heavy wheeling (given that my truck is stock) and was thinking if I should invest in some recovery gear. Do you guys think it's good insurance? If so, what to get? Or, scrap that idea and just have fun on the trails?? haha

thanks...I'm running the uniden 520xl with a 4' wilson antennae I believe... it works pretty well... I mounted the radio right under the key ignition...
