Looks good brother!! I was thinking about the hf bender but a concrete pylon was much more accessible to me.....and I only needed 2 bends.

I made my first roof rack using a Harbor Freight bender that had a jack and it pushed up while the tubing contacted a roller on either side. It was a big pile of crap but it made the bends I needed. Pretty sure I left it on the side of the road or next to the dumpster after that. I love my JD2 Model 3 bender these days, not even hydraulic but it is awesome for me.

That's how mine is.

But I can modify it for a air.

I don't plan on getting rid of this for a while. As long as in using pipe and not tube it'll be fine.

Schedule 80 is good stuff, DOM is better, but not by much(FOR SLIDERS). My problem with 80 is the finish, (Black pipe), maybe you can get it bare otherwise you have to grind it to weld clean and if you aren't going to sand blast you have some work cleaning it up.

DOM gets strength through it's forming, not the thickness. Just as Chro Mo is stronger then DOM, DOM is stronger than welded tubing like ERW or pipe sizes.

If you were building a roll bar, I'd say stay away, but this is just fun right? If it's cheep or free, go for it. If the cost is close, just get pipe tubing or DOM.

Is the 40 covered in the same stuff 80 is?

The wire wheel takes it off fairly quickly, but a flap disk does it better. Lol.
