Fishing/Beach Rig

Hey everybody, I just moved to Tampa, and as an avid fisherman I was wondering if anyone has done any mods to increase the functionality of their 4R for this wonderful pastime?:fishing:

I currently have an 07 limited v8. Besides doing 20% on all the windows it's stock. I look forward to any ideas, pics, or links you can share with me.

I used to live in Tampa myself and do not believe that there were any specific beaches (IIRC) that allow you to drive onto them. If you're profile is accurate, you used to live in MD - near VA, NJ, etc. where more places allow you to drive onto the beach and use your rig to hold rods, etc rather than dragging it onto the beach.
Maybe you could construct some sort of hitch adapter to hold your rods/reels. At one point I made a rod holder for the upper corner of my truck so the rods could hang without being damaged by closing doors, etc. It was genius, spent all of 5$ making it and bending some aluminum to hold the rods above the roof handles near the doors.

I live on the causeway to Clearwater beach and there are a few places that will allow me to drive up to the water to fish. Besides interior rod holders across the clothes hangers, I was more interested in things others have done to make the 4R a more efficient carrier of equipment, good sand tires, etc. Things I may not have thought of that others find useful.

I'm not an avid fisherman, but alot of the guys here in NC where I go to the beach have front mount hitches with a carrier attached that holds coolers, rods, etc... the rod holders look to be PVC and have the rods going straight up. Check out this thread too for a front mount hitch. Hope this helps.

That's probably my main off road use as well, and even though I have future plans of a slight lift, larger tires, wheel spacers, etc, I've taken it out on the beach in stock form several times and it is very capable. So much nicer than dragging all of the little one's beach stuff out there by hand too...

Like others have suggested, the hidden front hitch caught my attention too, but I'm going to get this other stuff installed first.
