get a new rod, picked this up a few weeks ago as i was getting pissed about never having the right rod with me or trying to pack it int eh truck with my dog and other camping gear smashing it up.
it's a dual purpose rod, fly and spin casting, breaks down into six pieces about 1.5ft long each and comes in it's own little carrying bag, now i just head out with the rod and my tackle bag with house my spin reel and fly reel, depending on where i stop i string up whatever reel i want and have at it.....that said kinda spendy, not really but kinda, i'm in $158 total for the rod , spin reel, fly reel with extra spool and line for each one...that line is a killer....
you can see the handle comes apart and changes so both fly and spinner will work.....
personally i found this to be the best option for my lakes and rivers and what i do, i also like i can backpack with this setup as well, so for me it really is a good all around setup.
that said it's not a salmon pole though you probably could get some smaller ones on it, i saw big 5 had some pretty inexpensive fishing rod tubes.
