Fishing poles?? Inside storage

What do you guys use to store rods inside and transport them? I would like to carry them inside my 4runner and hang them. Ty for any help

The cheapest way to do it is to run a few bungees between the clothing hooks in the cargo area and at the back seat doors. My conventional rods are 6'6-7' long and they come all the way to the visors in the front seats. My surf rods can't be carried up and out of the way like that due to their longer length.

I make my rod cases out of ABS pipe, caps and glue from Home Depot. Put slots and 1" webbing straps for my 4-piece Triumph spinning case (4" ABS), the airline check-ins and security just love the looks of it (/s). Wrap my rod in an old sheet and it fits perfectly and very securely. Could drill/dremel holes in the side and put carabiners or other attachments for hanging. My little 2-piece 6'6" camping spinner needs 3" pipe. You can make a bomb-proof case for not many bucks. They are a bit heavy but if your rods ever get a scratch on them you are going to be dealing with MUCH larger problems.

I know some guys also use 6" PVC sewer pipe (capped of course) mounted to a roof rack, they can fit a few rods in there.

There's videos on YouTube and you can modify these to suit one way or another.

I can get my 9' fly rods in and out of the way. Kit comes with six rod holders ( I only use three).
I use a computer keyboard gel pad on the dash with small bungee cords to hold the rod tips down so they don't bounce around. works great. I think you can order this via Cabelas.

Use plastisol 3/16 th wire cables and locks to secure rods/reels to racks to keep sticky fingers at bay. Racks are locked to receiver and coolers locked to racks as well.

Only consideration is keeping Rod tips below 13’6” minimum height for overhead wires, etc.

Faithfully used Rod Loft product for years on 4th gen...only used with freshwater rods up to 7 foot. Will always give this product a 5 star rating. Fit 6 or 8 rods, was adjustible and was a solid rod solution. Didn't surfcast while I used this product so I can't comment on how it fits longer rods.

Still have said Rod Loft somewhere in storage...just don't use it in the 5th Gen. Can fit surf rods in my 2015 up to 9 foot (just fits my 9-foot Team Daiwa surf rod). Literally just run them up passenger side between seat and window, resting reels on the retractible cargo cover (tonneau).

Has worked well for my solo surfcasting runs and local lake/river hopping, but recognize that this system is ripe for improvement. Just works for me (currently). Although the same cargo cover is preventing me from getting a molle panel (Rago/OrangeBoxx) which I would really like to have (mutually exclusive as far as I can tell).

For longer distance trips with passengers, I recommend an external, lockable cargo box (Thule/Yakima) as long as you have rods that will break down. Have used these for salmon/steelhead fishing trips and they worked well.

I use a $20 cargo net from Cabela's and a couple bungies to keep them from moving around. Wakesurf board up there in the pic, but you get the idea.

I used a Blue Ridge Overland attic and cable cuffs/clamps to hold individual rods.

That Rod Loft looks pretty slick.

Finally went fishing this weekend so took a quick pic. I give some of you guys credit being all creative and trying to reinvent the wheel just to carry some fishing poles.

I use 2 methods. If I’m alone I use the passenger seat headrest. Place the rods under the head rest of the front and back seat and push down to secure. If there are buddies I use Velcro straps and the grab handles. The 7ft rod does just fine on the grab handles. The reel does neeed to be removed when using them or they fall down. I have pictures but not sure how to load them. Yet.

Yep, lots of folks use ski racks. The Yakima ones often have double hinges so they're flexible on what they can carry. I don't fish but I'm in the process of adding ski racks. The Yakima Fatcat is a really nice set.
