Fishwerks' Photo/Build Thread

Just awesome & great pictures. Currently trying to plan to do Moab in May/June or Late September. Thanks for the pictures and sharing :)

Also want to do Ouray again...3 days wasn't enough :(

Pictures look great. I always just read through the last few pages and finally found time to look through and read the whole thing. I love the white F5s, nice touch for sure.

Never seen a broken sway bar either! Holy hell haha. No broken links, just the actual bar?

Thanks man!

Yeah just snapped the rear sway bar itself right on the outside of the driver side bushing, end link is totally fine and still attached to the frame. Tyler TCMach broke his rear sway bar the same spot when we were in Moab in March. My brother also broke the rear sway bar on his 4th gen in Moab, but on the outside of the passenger side bushing. Kind of strange because I haven't read about many broken sway bars.

Thanks! Glad people enjoy the photos.

Have fun and put some photos up when you get back out to Moab/Ouray! Love the chopped back half on your 3rd gen.

May be awhile....These holidays are not working fort me......... :(

But if I do I'll take pictures and video. Currently still editing footage from last time.

Chinaman Gulch

Ran Chinaman Gulch a few weeks back with the dudes Twenman4 TCMach Jorgan EatonKyleH NateMob derpiful Flemster and Max (Landcruiser dude). Ended up staying in a cabin up in St. Elmo which was awesome (thanks Tyler and Charissa!). More photos here - https://flic.kr/s/aHsm7CY5kk

How are you liking the cooper tires?

So far so good. Pretty awful on packed snow/ice with the rear lock-right but that was to be expected. They are wearing a bit faster than I would like too, but they run pretty smooth even up to 80 mph and are really good off-road.

Awesome build thread and documentation. What do you use to shoot?

Thanks man. Nikon D610 with a couple different lenses.

Moab update (finally)

Apparently I never updated this thread with Moab photos from the March trip.

Had a ton of fun with all the bros TCMach Twenman4 NateMob EatonKyleH derpiful Flemster and a couple other buddies who aren't on this forum. Met up with Black798 one day too which was good.

We ran Fins n' Things, Metal Masher, and Poison Spider. derpiful and Flemster also showed me the dunes which I hadn't been to before, thanks boys! Great times as always, and no carnage this year (although we thought Tyler blew up his steering rack cause of those 37s and ARB). Plus we got off the trails before dark everyday which is a nearly impossible feat on these trips.

This thread needs an update.

Last time I updated it was from Moab last year. The 3rd gen didn't get much love last year. Some photos since last Moab:

So as the last picture in the previous post shows, at some point in Moab last year (probably at the Dunes trying to jump ha), I flattened a cam tab enough to where the control arm was moving around while I was driving. And at least 2 other tabs were slightly bent, but not completely flattened. I didn't have a welder and we had a busy summer with trips and weddings so the truck sat broken for a while in the garage.

I started collecting parts late last summer so that I could fix the cam tabs, and added some new things. Also had to buy a welder, a Hobart Handler 140, and ended up buying a small air compressor for the garage (should have bought one with a bigger tank).

Parts installed:
- Total Chaos cam tab gusset kit - chiseling the factory cam tabs off was really terrible when I was doing it by hand. I bought an air compressor so that I could run an air chisel just for this job. Had my brother weld them on.
- Energy Suspension poly steering rack bushings
- CBI Hybrid rear bumper w/ custom swingout by 52Eighty that I bought from TCMach
- spare tire - 255/85/16 BFG KM2 on a Mickey Thompson Classic III wheel from Dirtco (bought this thing like 2 years ago and it has sat in the garage since)
- Budbuilt Skids (front skid from EatonKyleH, rear skid from Dirtco)
- OME 861s
- 1/2" body lift from Fat Pat's
- regreased all 4 SPC UCA bushings as they were squeaking/groaning like crazy, I pressed the sleeve out of each bushing and regreased it with CV joint grease and they are noise free again now.

So here is how the truck is sitting now after I got it aligned yesterday:
