Fixed... Gauge, AC Compressor, and Alternator Regulator Failure

Hopefully you didn't get any oil in your face...



The AC system probably won't even turn on with no refrigerant in there, so you wouldn't have been able to test.

Crossing my fingers! No call today.

I backed out two of the bolts in the compressor manifold halfway and it started hissing, so I waited about 30 sec until it stopped and thought it was done. Backed out the third bolt halfway and it apparently wasn’t done. Lol. Giant cloud of oil for about 15 sec shooting out of the wheel well! Luckily I was using a drill extension on them and the wind was blowing the other direction away from me, the car, the wife’s car, and the house. Got oil all over the wheel/wheel well. Hosed most of it off. My oil pan was of little use. lol

Update:

Found the balls to call Toyota to see how things were going, no word from them, and was told they charged it and everything works with no leaks! I didn’t bother telling them it was blowing fuses. I’m thrilled that I put it all together and it didn’t leak!! Haha.

I’ll be picking it up tomorrow afternoon when I get back from work and driving 3hrs home, then another 4.5 hour drive on Saturday morning and will update again!

Calling it fixed!

AC blows cold, not ice cold like I was expecting, but it’s consistent and not blowing the gauge fuse.

Drive 4.5 hours today without issue. [emoji1598]

Update:

Still no issues.

For those interested in what my alternator brush looks like at 315k.

I was getting the battery light off and on from my cracked valve cover leaking directly on the alternator. Replaced the brush assembly and replaced valve cover and gaskets while I was at it.
