Fixing a 12v outlet

My 12v outlet stopped working. I bought a brand new 15a fuse and changed it but still it does not work. I then bought another 12v outlet to install but I need help with the installation.

Photo one shows the stock two wires that plug into the stock 12volt outlet.

And photo two shows the aftermarket 12v outlet I bought. I am confused because as you can see the aftermarket 12v outlet only has one wire. I am not sure to which of the two stock wires I should hook it up to? Any ideas? Also, why are there two wires on the stock 12v outlet?

In the pic of the aftemarket 12vdc outlet, the black wire, coming from the center tab should be the + 12 connection. The silver tab on the body of the outlet is where the - (ground) connection is made. If you still have it, the simplest thing would be to use the plug-in connector from the old outlet. Clip the wires from the old outlet, being sure to mark which one went to the center terminal, and connect it to the new outlet. You may have to add additional wire to make sure it is long enough to reach. Also, did you check the existing wire harness plug to see if you had power when the ignition was on?
