Fixing a frame

Done.
That's what I'm hoping for, but I'm ready to use a 60" high lift or really long bottle jack if I have to. I'm trying to figure out next if I want to scrounge a stock crossmember for extra cool OEM goodness or just cram a chunk of 3x3 .180 wall in there. What is HSS?

My guess - HSS = High Strength Steel.
FWIW I'd weld up a more solid boxed piece to replace the OEM one. I'll bet you could fab up a stronger than OEM cross member easily.

"Hollow Square Section"' basically square tube. The stock piece is likely close to 2"x2"x 0.120" wall. Anything bigger would be good but don't go overboard as the frame rail isn't that thick.
Would be good to have the stock frame measurement handy to check before welding.

I was driving to work one day, just exited the highway and a girl turned left in front of me at a light. The Runner went over/ through the front of her Civic while doing a 180 in the road, and stopped sliding with both right side wheels in the air before it fell back to the road. Thought it was going to roll but it didn't. That was back in the days of IFS and 225/75R15 ATs.
. Came close to being written off but it was all cosmetic; hood, fenders, grill, rad, crossmember, etc. Lucky!

Choppy choppy. It didn't pop all the way back out, so I'm going to have to spread the frame rails. That means stretching the core support, or replacing it. Is the core support welded in there anywhere? All I see are bolts.

The core support didn't stretch, so it's coming out. This morning I yanked the radiator and all the AC/power steering crap. Tomorrow I unbolt the fenders and start hunting for spot welds. This is fun.

This is one way to make enough room to change your water pump. It is not the most efficient way. Drilling out spot welds sucks.

Those are there just in case. If you look close, you can see the real jack stands peeking between the motor and the frame.

Made some progress today. Got the new crossmember in, welded the core support back on and straightened it out with a comealong. Need to hit the junkyard for a front bumper and mounts, and the radiator and such need to get stuffed back in, and she'll be rolling again.

Luckily it'll be out of my driveway shortly. I've got a buyer lined up for it, and I won't make as much money as I was hoping but it's going to a friend who needs a truck right now, and he doesn't care about a salvage title so I won't need to spend time getting all the little finicky stuff right.
