Fixing a windshield chip/crack

Driving down the freeway Tuesday when I got nailed by a rock on my windshield. :50cal:

The chip doesn't seem that bad, but there are two small cracks going different directions that worry me.

I've seen some of that "Fix-a-windshield" stuff at wal-mart before. I'm wodering if anyone has had experience with that or know of something better to try.

Thanks :D

I take it money is an issue and you don't want to take it to a glass shop? It runs $40cnd here to get a chip sealed.

I was always wondering myself if there are any other methods for this. I had krazy glue in my head, but that's just crazy talk.

Remember the saying you get what you pay for. Well dude, it's not like you are talking about getting this kit from a auto place, you are talking about "Walmart".
Go to an auto glass place and have it fixed right the first time.

Chuck, I hope you are kidding about the price:( . On my Birthday I got a new addition to my 4 month truck, a 10 crack on my windshield:mad:. I see a tiny chip on it really close to the crack and just find it hard to believe that the tiny chip could cause that. My wife keeps telling me to take it to the dealer to see if they would cover it under warranty, but I really doubt they would.

no they wont especially id there is a chip right there... I wish i was kidding about the price... lol

Sorry Bud!

:dammit:. I will check with my insurrance, did not think about checking with them. Irronic that I noticed this on my birthday while on my way to renew my license.

I got a hold of my insurance, and they would cover it. But my dedectable is at 250, so I could have bought the windshield on my own. At least they are a trusted shop, and its getting fixed Wed. afternoon. Watch for the rocks out there, they are costly!:50cal:

windshield question

I had some metal debris kick up from the tollway and crack my hood deflector, scratch the hood to bare metal and scratch the windshield. Insurance is replacing the deflector and windshield and filling/painting the hood. The glass shop says that there are two kinds of windshield, one with a sensor and without (I'm getting this second hand from the body shop). Supposedly, you need the sensor version if you have the night vision mirror. I see on patrznet that there is a limited windshiled and one for us peons with an SR5 or Sport:D. Does anyone know the difference? I doubt that the port put in a new windshield when they added the mirror!

Thanks,
